Replacement remotes should come with the codes, the las 1 I got had a booklet of codes for various types and makes of device, some had several codes any you needed to try each in turn until you go to the correct code. Not sure if the different makes of remote need the same or differnt codes. I suggest you contact the remotes maker for the possible codes.

I have the same cheezy remote, these are the Sharp TV codes listed in the book that came with mine;
004, 006, 012, 026, 029, 095, 111, 112, 113, 122, 171, 173, 196.

Most universal remotes will work and the code will always come with the remote. There is not one set of universal codes that come with the TV. The codes are remote specific, so if you are looking for a code refer to your remote instructions and manufacturer and not your TV literature. Your best bet to get full functionality is to get a logitec harmony remote. They usually cost a bit more and take more to program but they are the best I have found to absolutely get all the function you could ever get because you can program as many extra buttons as you want. Another option is to call the manufacturer, their number will be listed in the user manual. They can send you the original remote. It may cost somewhere in the range of $15-$50.
