I have a DLINK modem/router model DSL-2760U that has an on board print server and a USB port. I tried to connect my Lexmark x7350 to that port and use it as a network printer. I can connect to the printer and change its settings (draft/notmal etc) but I cannot print anything, not even a test page. Printer works fine when connected to the computer, so it is not the printer. Any idea ?

SOURCE: IOGear multi-function USB print server

The direction of the GMFPSU01C will never tell you that you need to create another printer driver. Because, once you install the MFP Utility of this print server, you will have an automatic Copy1 icon of your printer once you successfully, detected the print server and once you successfully connected to the Printer.

Since, the computer is not detected the printer on the network, here are the things that you may do:

1. Make sure that the printer driver is properly installed in the computer. and make sure that the printer is working when directly connected to the computer.

2. If you can't detect the printer, disable your FireWall or any anti-virus program that's running in your computer.

3. Uninstall/reinstall the MFP Utility. If the CD is not working correctly, use the driver from the Website. Here's the link: http://iogear.com/support/dm/driver/GMFPSU01#display

Setting up a small network using DSL and a DLink router

1.) The setup needs changing
2.) first off the dss-24 is a network switch not a router
3.) all of your pc equipment should be pluged into that device.
4.) chose one port as an uplink to your att modem
I think your problem is that the new modem is only giving out one ip address. So what ever first pc is turned on that is the one that grabs the address.
5.) you will most likly need a router to take the one ip address assigned via att then dole out additional ones. Remember the dss-24 is not a router. It simply connects everyone together. Each device still needs an ip address given from somewhere. Your old cable modem probibly did that but your new att dsl most likly does not.hence the new router will do that.....
to set it up do the following
2.) Find out the ip setup needed for your dsl service
A.) gateway ip
B.) primary & secondary dns server ip`s
C.) subnet mask
3.) get into the setup of your new router and then plugg in
all of these values using a fixed if address in the router
4.) connect routers wan port to one of the modems port. u may have to use a cross cable or straight look at the link lites to find out if they are talking to each other
5.) make sure that the routers lan side is setup for DHCP
6.) connect one lan port off the router to an uplink
of the dss-24. Then reboot everything
7.) viola it should all work internet on evey machine and file sharring.

Driver

not sure why you will need USB drivers for your adsl2+ modem/ wireless router and 4 port LAN switch. It would help you had provided the model number.

The device uses a LAN ethernet port to connect to the computer. You will need atleast one computer to be on the LAN port for setting it up. Once setup is complete you can use wireless connection for every computer.

The user manual & drivers or the DSL-2740B which appears similar to your product description
http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/Download/download.aspx?product=DSL-2740B

Not sure if you need these. Your computers will need LAN or wireless drivers to connect to this DLINK modem/ router.

Good luck

Printing with Dlink DI-624S and VPN connection

I am guessing this VPN is something work related and not a VPN you setup yourself?? If that is the case your company's VPN access will not allow you to pass from there network back to yours which is why you are unable to print to your local home printer when connected to VPN. You might could run it by your IT staff and see if they will allow connection and help you set it up. If not then simply email the docs to yourself and then print them out after you are finished using VPN connection.

Hope this Helps

Router cannot get IP with cisco 675 modem

Hi,

The issue may be due to the existence of two (2) DHCP servers; 1 in the Cisco 675 and the 2nd in the DLink DI-524. You need to disable the Cisco's DHCP server function and assign static IP add & config to the DLink WAN config. This way it will only be the DLink handing out IP adds to the network.

The workaround. Install your original configuration/setting without the DLink DI-524 - PC direct to the Cisco 675 (I am assuming through Ethernet ports). Verify that indeed you are connected to the Internet and can surf the net, check e-mails, etc. Check your Networking Connection Status. Log down your PC's IP Add, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS. For purposes of discussion, let's call this "N1".

After your Internet connection has been verified with your PC directly connected to the Cisco, remove the direct connection and connect the DLink DI-524 in between the Cisco router and your PC.

Log in to the DLink and modify WAN parameters using the "N1" configurations/settings.

It might be of help to disable any security (WEP WPA, MAC etc) at least while configuring.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Wireless router

Yes, you can use wireless router with the modem. I guess the actiontech DSl router that you have is also Wireless one. If so, you can use just the DSL router for wireless connection. If you really want to use Dlink router with it, Connect the ( WAN port ) of the Dlink router to the ( LAN Port ) of the Action tech modem [ modem(LAN)-->Dlink(WAN) ]. Once you do this connection, better to do power cycle ( unplug the pwr to the dlink first, then, disconnect the pwr to action tech - wait 1min and plug the pwr to modem, wait for DSL light to be solid , then put the pwr back to dlink ). Make sure DSL light on the modem solid, internet light & WLAN light on the link glowing.
- Make Hardwire connection between the computer to Dlink and check the ip address on the computer whether it acquires the ip address from Dlink and then check the internet connection on the computer, it has to work. if computer not getting ip from dlink, try restarting computer.
- If hardwire connection on the dlink works fine and check the wireless connection.

For wireless configuration or assistance you may check this link:

please feel free to ask, if you have any more assistance.

D Link DIR 635 router conection internet

Normally, all ruters are hubs as well. if you want to connect it as a hub only; try connecting only the ports minus the WAN port that goes to the DSL modem. In this case the router will behave just like a hub.
