Casio exilim digital camera ex-z600 during daytime picture too bright or white to develop the pic. kindly suggest

I have a EX-Z600 and i tried updating the firmware to a 1.03, as i did the 1.02. Doing exactly what the instructions say. Now after i placed the update in the root directory and taking the camera off the cradle i was pressing the menu button and pressed the on button to get the program update page but the camera screen would only show version 1.02 then it would turn on. Why does it do that? I have also had the problem, since i got the camera, that sometimes the camera wont turn on unless i take out the battery and put it back in, why is that? Can anybody please help me.

It really sounds like an exposure setting. Check the manual exposure, it will use that setting when not in auto mode.
