The simplest step may be to right-click on the Wi-fi icon in one of your computers' system tray (bottom right corner of the screen). Click on "Troubleshoot problems". The troubleshooter program will try to identify and fix any of several possible causes. Wait patiently while it searches ....
If the Windows troubleshooter fails to resolve the issue, you can try power-cycling the chain of components by following these steps:
1. Unplug the power cord from the Modem.
2. Unplug the power cord from the Router.
3. Shutdown the computer(s) that need wi-fi.
4. Wait twenty seconds, then plug in the power cord for the Modem. Then wait at least one full minute for the Modem to boot up and settle down.
5. Next, plug in the power cord for the Router. Wait at least thirty seconds for it to fully boot up and settle down.
6. Power on one computer that needs wi-fi. Wait for it to fully boot up and settle down. Check if you have a connection to the Router.

SOURCE: WAN light off on router

Hi Bootstrap,

Try a new cable. I know it sound strange, but I have had some work in one port, and not others.
If you still don't get a WAN link light, try resetting your router. We don't know what Netgear you have, but usually there is just a small hole where you press in with a paperclip, or pencil, and hold it in for 30 sec. Lights should flash when you release it. Connect your PC to one of the LAN ports, with the router powered up, and power up your PC. On your PC, go to STARTt>RUN>type in CMD. Press Enter. In the black bix that opens, type ICONIFG.
Look for your IP Address. It should be 192.168.x.xxx. (X can be any number up to 254.) Subnet should be 255.255.255.0. Gateway IP should be 192.168.x.1.
If your IP address is 169.xxx.xxx.xxx, you are not connecting to your router, or your router is not issuing an IP, thru DHCP.
Make sure your router basic settings is setup for your Internet connection type, i.e. DSL or cable. If all that fails, can you return the router? Is it new? What model Netgear is it? The WAN port not working does make me think it may have been damaged by a power spike. Have you had any lightning storms lately, or power outages?
Let us know if any of that helps. Or give us more info and we can see what else we can find.

SOURCE: Netgear Router WGR614 will not connect to internet

Hi,
Looks like when you reset the router you have lost all yur configuration and back to the default factory settings.

Bridge the 5100 first.
1. In your web browser browse to »192.168.0.1 This address will be located on a yellow sticker on the bottom of your modem.

2. The first screen will ask you for your Modem Access Code. This also will be located on the same yellow sticker.

3. Select Advanced from the blue buttons on the left.

4. Click the PPP locations button.

5. The modem may ask your for the Modem Access Code again. If so type it in again and click continue.

6. Select the radio button labeled, "Bridged Mode (PPPoE is not used)"

7. Click Save Changes.

8. A "PPP Location Warning" page will come up. Click "Change PPP Location."

9. A "Restart Needed" page will come up. Click "Restart"

10. Reboot your computer and and then connect the router

11.Configure the router for PPPoE using your ISP uid/pass

12.Configure your wireless using WEP

13.Desktop : Using Dell wireless client configure the client using the same SSID ,wep as configured in the router
Laptop : follow the same as desktop

(by default dell wirelesss client takes over the wireless configuration in dell pc.to disable it and use windows wireless client..control panel ->administrative tools -> services -> enabl2 wireless zero configuration)

14.after all configuration shut the desktop, laptop, router, mdm and pwr them in seg..first modem and then router and then your desktop or laptop

SOURCE: Wireless Router Configuration

Double check that your modem has more than just a usb port on it. There should be a network port on it too. Simply connect a network cable for the modem to the WAN port on the router and then from the router to the computer.

I have never seen a modem with only usb on it. Let me know if this helps.

SOURCE: Moden and Router aren't connecting to wireless laptop

It sounds like the router is working OK, so there's really no need to reset it. Here's some things to try, in order:

1 - Click Start, then run. In the box that appears type cmd and hit enter. This will open a DOS Prompt. At the prompt type ipconfig and hit enter. Your IP address should read 192.168.1.(some number). If it shows anything else, this indicated that you are not getting an IP address to the device.

2 - Click Start Control Panel. In control panel go to network. This will show you your available network interfaces. Reply here with the connections that you see in the box.

Hello, I dont think you need the drivers for Router. And first of all you need to connect your modem to your router through ethernet cable. And after connecting your modem, configure your wireless router by typing this IP address in internet explorer: 192.168.1.1 The user id is admin and the password is password. Then detect your broadband connection by using the option in the router. Try connecting your Laptop to wifi after setting the connection.

PS3 and Netgear WGR614 V7 Router

Basically the PS3 wireless settings needs to be configures with the Netgear wireless router settings.
To test if the modem is connects to the Internet, connect a computer into the modem, if it works then the modem is configured correctly. If it doesn't work, then contact your ISP and get them to test your modem connection.
For details on how to configure the PS3 click on the WEB link :-

NetGear WGT624 Wireless router

Check the security settings in the router . try 192.168.0.1 in your browser and check the access/security. Alternately reset the modem using button on back next to Ariel and press for 5 secs. Your computer firewall may be a problem or there may be an address conflict with your other modem.

Can only connect to LAN, no internet access

Check for a vaild gateway address on router,start.run.cmd> type in ipconfig.if you dont have a valid ip or gatway. try a powercycle, turn off modem and then router, wait about 10-20 sec and plug modem back in. check your ip and gateway check for a connection, if that dont work call netgear to see if u have a defaulted router, or take it back for new one if u still have a recicpt.
