i have a nokia 5500 sport model. it has somehow started to act funny ... while using, suddenly its network/signal disappears and never comes back.

SOftware is corrupted. Do a full reset but you will loose everything.
Pull mem card out and sim and switch off. Since its symbian, press and hold * and 3 and green buttons andf power on....wait....

Try using a cover over the phone, n if u havent bought it yet then buy a version that wat made after march ( like sm1 suggested) apparently the problem was fixed after that.
