I have been trying to install XP, the 64 bit version with SP2, as a secondary boot option on my son's Asus G73 and running into problems. I had to go into the bios and change the SATA mode setting from...

I think your problems are at least two fold. Firstly the number of characters that can be used in XP as file names is far less than Win7 plus you probably have a drivers issue.
Hope this helps but don't hold your breath as you need SP3 to be able to get any support from Microsoft.

Always get your drivers from the manufacturer of your Laptop, Notebook or Desktop.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, usually one is able to download if available, by model number, All available Driver downloads as required.

If the driver is not available, perhaps your manufacturer does not support the OS you are installing.

This is the best way of ensuring up to date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!

There are no XP drivers to be found with Microsoft as XP is no longer supported.

Some manufacturers may have a limited number of Drivers still listed.

I hope this helps.

This is a direct link to the Dell site for all of your Inspiron 1525 Drivers. Choose the XP operating system and all driver choices will come up. I STRONGLY advise against go elsewhere to get these drivers, especially when you can get them from Dell directly.

Windows XP does not have the SATA driver on the install CD.
You need to download the SATA driver for your model laptop from the Toshiba WEB support/download page.
If the laptop has floppy drive, then copy the SATA driver to the floppy and when you boot up with the Windows XP install CD and then press F6 to install the SATA drivers which is on the floppy as instructed..

Bad video board? Trying to figure out is card is bad or if it's drivers.

I agree, it does sound like it is on its last leg. Keep the settings on low and run it til it dies!

Need XP audio drivers for dell inspiron 1525

Hi trinadhmusun,

Click here to go to the Dell website to download your driver:

Dell Inspiron 1525

Make sure the operating system is correct (I have it set to Windows Vista 32bit as default, which your unit should be) and download the only driver for audio located on that list. It says it is a STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio, which you'll know if that is correct once you download and attempt to install it.

If you have problems installing the driver itself, let us know. Hope that helps!
