GE Side by Side Refrigerator - ice maker & water in door

My fridge is about 4 years old and the ice maker works fine, but no water dispenses from the door when the button to dispense is activated. In trying to solve the problem myself, I changed the water filter, check the water lines for kinks, and tested the water link going to the "blue and white" connector valve. When I press the dispenser button when the two lines are not connected, it immediately dispenses from the unconnected water line, so it would seem my problem is between that connection and the dispenser in the door itself... Suggestions??? I have no idea what is going on behind that freezer door panel... Thanks!

Scorpio, remove the ice bin itself, dump the ice and see if you can move the bin auger by hand by turning the actuator in the rear. If the bin is ok, with the door open and the door switch held in see if the auger motor is turning when pressing the ice lever. If it's not turning the next logical step is to see whether the auger motor is getting voltage when calling for ice. Make sure the door switch is closed. The part number for the auger motor on the posted model is wr60x0202. Hope this gets you going..Catriver.

SOURCE: water dispenser not working

First of all if your water dispenser is working then we know that the control panel is getting power. If not open the door and manually press the door switch to see of the switch is working properly. The switch will cut power to the dispenser to prevent operation while the door is open. Second you need to check the wiring at the hinge to see if there is a break in it. if you are still having trouble please respond with a model number.

SOURCE: GE Profile side by side fridge - water dispenser doesn't work

More than likely, your water line is freezing up in the door. You can remove all of the ice cubes and lower the freezer temp to about 3. Leave the freezer door open for about 5 minutes or so and if this does not work, leave the door open a little longer. Also, disconnect the water line at the base of the freezer door, near the floor, and press the dispenser lever. If you have water there, you most likely have a frozen line in the door. Changing the water filter often will help but it is not the answer and is can get quite expensive. By the way, Make sure to hold the dispenser lever forward for at least a couple of minutes each time you test for water flow. If you do not get water at the connector at the base of the door after you have disconnected the line, you have a problem with the valve in the back of the refrigerator.

LG refrigerator won't dispense water any more

The water line is freezing in the door due to deteriorated insulation. The only fix I have found to work on my fridge was to defrost the inside door with a blow dryer. Then place a weedeater replacement line (the orange 10" or so size you find at Lowes' or Home Depot) up through the dispenser nozzle, If the line only travels about 3-4 inches up the nozzle, then ice is still in the tube. Blow dry it until you are able to get water to dispense. After the tube is ice-free, place the weedeater line up throuth the dispenser nozzle leaving about 1/8" sticking out. The dispenser will still work with the line stuck in it. The dispenser will probably freeze again in about 8 hours, But all you need to do each time this happens is to pull the weedeater line out, dispense the water to unclog the ice, and place the weedeater line back in the nozzle. I have been using this method for about a week now and it works great. My GE Side-by-side is also 4 years old and this seems to be a problem with all of them. There is a part you can order to fix the problem, but I have heard it may not work.

I have a GE Refriderator about 3 years old. Recently the water dispenser stopped working, and the ice maker stopped as well. The ice maker seems to freeze up as it dispenses water in the tray to make ice....

Are you having any cooling problems whatsoever, anywhere? Is there any area in the unit that you dont put food for cooling reasons? if cooling is fine, check the water pressure as it comes into the refrigerator, you wil have to disconnect the water line at the solenoid valve behind the fridge. If pressure is good, pour 4-8 oz of water into ice maker, does it eject those cubes within 24 hours? then replace your water valve(s) One assembly houses a solenoid for both the ice maker and the water dispenser, both solenoids are bad.

Fridge temperature has suddenly dropped to 15

Check the door gaskets, condenser fan, refrigerator fan and the freezer fan. That should narrow down the problem.

Refrigerator side won't cool

its iced up and needs to be thawed. you can use a hair dryer and make it fast in say 2 hours. the freezer side is blocked from admitting cool air to the fridge side. your defrost timer may be defective or you had a real humid situation that caused it to ice up.

In door ice dispenser does not work but the water dispenser does.

check to make sure there is water or ice in your ice maker tray. If none then problem is usually a water supply issue to the ice maker. Behind the frig are the water supply inlet valves. One is for the water dispenser in the door. THe other is for the ice maker. However when one goes bad they both are replaced as one unit. Also Check position of fingers in ice maker. If not in a vertical position then try to reset the ice maker unit and worse comes to worse, replace it with a new one.

Ice/water maker won't dispense

Icemaker only dispenses crushed ice even when in cube position. Water/light work fine. Have already replaced control module circuit board.
