I recently purchased a Verbatim USB 2.0 1-TB storage External Hard Drive. I have a Mac with OSX 10.5.8. I properly connected the hard drive to my computer and an appropriate screen display icon which I opened. Inside the icon is a Nero folder. After opening Nero, I am unsuccessful in finding any other folders that do anything or give any further instructions regarding backing up data. So far, no luck in getting this equipment to work for me. Help.

The NERO software is most-commonly used to write to CD/DVD/BluRay recordable media.

With Mac OS, just "drag-and-drop" your files and folders onto the icon for the drive, to "copy" the files.

Hello!!

The MAC is not recognizing HDD because it may not be in FAT or MAC OS X Journeled Format.
Please Follow below steps to Reformat the HDD to make it Compatible with MAC.

1. Connect the HDD.
2. Open Disk Utility from Applications -> Utilities
3. On left side of Disk Utility you'll find your HDD.
4. Click on HDD and select the Format TAB.
5. Reformat the HDD in Mac OSX Journeled Format.
6. Click Apply.
7. Done.

P.S. : It will erase everything from your HDD so remember to backup all data before doing this.

Hope it Helps..!!

I backed up my system and recently lost the hard drive. A new hard drive was installed, and I connected my Verbatim to my PC, but I have no idea how to put all the backed up data back to my PC. Can you...

All you need to do to backup the files on your old hard drive is by using a Hard Drive Docking Station. you can take your hard drive to a local store and ask for a docking station that would fit on your hard drive, the docking station is like a device the you can connect to your computer using a USB cable.
Once you have it, your old hard drive will just function as an external storage device.

Clicking problem and laptop didn`t recognized my external

An external storage-device has four major components:

* the USB cable

* the power-adapter

* the disk-drive inside the enclosure

* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.

One of these components has failed.

Try a different USB cable.

Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.

Try connecting to a USB port on a different computer.

Take a "multi-meter" and measure both the voltage and amperage output from the AC adapter, and compare with the specifications on the label on the adapter.

Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and then connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if it works at all.

Purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it in the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.

Get the part-number and serial-number from the label on your disk-drive, and access the manufacturer's web-site, and use "check warranty status", to see if they will replace the device, at minimal cost to you.

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: https://services.seagate.com/index.aspx?lng=en-US for a "no data - no charge" guarantee.

Hi im sachin want to purchase 1 tb hard disk of cgate and LCD of ither samsung or sony.... 1. will support an external USB hard drive on this lcd's ? 2.is there any other type of hard disk i need to...

I do not know if the 1 Tb external hard will work on the USB ports on the LCD TVs.
What do you want to store on the 1 Tb USB hard drive and display on the LCD TVs?
Most LCD TVs can access USB memory sticks and display DVI movies (if supported by the TV), photos etc. that are stored on these USB memory sticks.
Try inserting an USB hard drive (borrow one if necessary, can be any capacity) into the USB port to see if it works before you decide to purchase a 1 Tb USB hard drive.
My suggestion would be to purchase a 1 Tb USB memory stick. This would out perform an external USB hard drive.

Hitachi External Hard Drive 500 g where do i get the driver for it ?

This is what I get from Hitachi about the USB drives:

The External USB Storage and Portable USB Storage products do not need additional drivers to function in WinXP/2000/Vista, or the Mac system 9.2.2 or OSX. These operating systems already include the drivers needed for USB storage devices.

Looks like you don't need a driver. This is what I expected.

External hard drive doesn't respond

Shut your computer down. Disconnect you external hardrive. Power up your computer again. Power up the Verbatim and then connect to a USB port. You should hear a very quiet 'ping'.

Go to My Computer, and the Verbatim should be showing as one of your drives (probably Drive D). You should be able to open it from there.

Make sure that you have a Desk Top Icon for opening the hardrive, it makes it so much easier. Hope this helps

Verbatim 250GB External Hard Disk not recognized by PC

Almost always, when a USB drive doesn't assign a drive letter in MY Computer the issue is a Mapped network drive using the drive letter the USB drive is attempting to use.

With the drive connected, open DISK MANAGEMENT find the USB Drive, right click it and assign it an available drive letter.
