I am helping my sister get set up for cable on her tv above.
I would like to know if my Magnavox (Philips) tv will be able to be hooked up to cable tv (via cable wire) or would I need a cable converter box first?
Also I have an Insignia digital converter box bought already. If I do need a cable converter box, would the Insignia box allow me to get cable now?
Also, if we do need a regular cable converter box, can you please tell me where I might get one? P.S. I have only until Monday, June 16 to get an answer.

Similar model Phillips tv made by foreign manufacturer for both Phillips and Magnavox may help you. Apparently very similar tv sets, so manual should be of assistance to you, although phone contact is for Phillips and not Magnavox.
With a Cable company box connected, that company may provide internet service to you if that is what you paid for.
Hi,If I understood correctly you broke antenna out socket of Cable box..ok no problem,your TV and cable box should have other jacs/socket for this connection as well.. Take the A/V output of your cable box into TV possibly with RCA cables..than you can select the channel thru Cable box on TV ..(AV mode needs to be selected on TV )

DVD 's "2xRCA audio" and "1x RCA Video" cables "OUT" should go to
Tv or Cable box "IN" connections separately ..("IN" goes to "OUT" of other
..pls remember,Always reverse connected ) (audio will come thru

Since you successfully connected your Receiver to play video on TV (one way only ) ,here is the second reverse action if you wish to listen or RECORD a program on your TV on magnavox **
you need to connect "Audio Output " as can either be : RCA jacks or
"Optic cable output" or "SCART "connector " of your TV or Cable box .( every TV -cable box has
different type of Audio out jacks ) ** to "iRCA nput or "Optic Cable input" of your magnavox (whichever you want ,based on the necessary cables on your hand ) There you go..Tv/Cable box video and sound are both on the magnavox for recording..

The easiest way to hook up the combo is to use the cable in and out to tv connectors located in the rear. for this connection you will hgave to set the TV to Channel 3 or 4. You can usually download an owners manual from magnavox.com, you will need a model number.
In general, you want to run red, yellow, white (composite or a/v) cables from the out of your sat box to the in of the Magnavox. Then run a 2nd set of r,y,w cables from the out of the Magnavox to the in of the TV (there may be one or several places to plug it into TV). If your sat box is an HD sat box, you probably won't get it to work with this Magnavox. This unit was jointly manufactured with Funai corp, so you will have to call 1-800-605-8610 for tech support.
A model number for your Magnavox TV would be helpful because the Parental Control Reset procedure varies. There should be a sticker on the back of the TV showing the model number.
If you have a newer LCD model, the unlock code is usually 0711. Ignore any "Incorrect" warning and enter 0711 again. Then set or clear the Parental
Access Code.
will this exact model need a digital conversion box when all channels flip to digital in feb 09 or does this model have ATSC?
