My Sony KDS-60A2000 is 41/2 years old. About 2 weeks ago I could not get the tv to power up. the green stand by light just kept blinking. I powered off, then powered up again and the tv started and and thought nothing of it. The next day it did the same thing, however, this time it took me about 5 minutes to get the tv to power up. As I paid more attention to the problem, I discovered that when I 1st hit the power button, there was no double click noise. The tv always starts after the double click sound.(Fan turns on) Then I power off and I hear the double click sound and I hit the power button again and hear the double click sound ( the fan comes on when you hear the double click then the tv starts. ( NO PROBLEMS WHEN THE TV STARTS!!) Here is the sequence: 1. Power on....blinking light no double click noise. Keeps blinking. 2. Power off...click noise 3. Power on..click noise...tv might start or may not. 4. 15 green continuous blinks after the power on and then the click noise...again the tv may turn on or it may not.....it will turn on when the fan starts. I HAVE DOGS AND THE TV MAY BE DIRTY! 5. I repeat this process.... power on click noise and wait for the sound of the fan.... if no fan sound I wait for the 15 green blinks and you hear the double click...again the fan may turn on . Sometimes the tv turns on after 3 or 4 trys and sometimes it takes 10 or 12 tries....aslong as 15 minutes but I always get the tv to turn on. When its on it stays on, no red lights no picture problems.

SOURCE: sony kds-60a2000 has a green tint to picture

I have had the same problem for about 6 months, and never paid much attention to it. I also noticed that when trying to change the menu color, the colors do not show up correctly.

Now it seems to be getting worse, and so I started doing some research, starting with the Sony site. That is when I found out there is an extended warranty for the KDS series (50a2000, 55a2000, 60a2000, r60xbr2, and r70xbr2) TVs because of an optical block issue, until June 30, 2010, no matter when you bought the TV.

You can see the recall here: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/news-item.pl?news_id=277&mdl=KDS60A2000

It seems they are extending the warranty, but not doing a recall. In other words, they aren't telling anyone, but if you happen to find the information, they will replace the optical block, if necessary. The closest I could find to the green hue issue is a purple haze on the screen.

I don't know if this is the problem, but I have scheduled an appointment to have the optical block changed. I will repost after the optical block has been changed and inform whether this is the fix to the problem.

Either way, the optical block seems to be an issue and would get it replaced whether you need it or not.

SOURCE: I HAVE A SONY KDS-60A2000

Hi,
3 times red light blinking indicates that Lamp Cover has not been fixed in its location properly after lamp replacement.
Please make sure lamp cover (its first thing that was removed to replace lamp) is installed securely.
Thanks.

SOURCE: the picture appears to have a green tint to it

The optical block is failing. Contact SONY for a replacement. They have extended the warranty or replace the sets

SOURCE: I have no picture and light flashes 5 times

If you pull the right side out (as you look at the front), get you ear down to the fan exhaust area and turn the set on. If you do not hear the fan turn or feel air being blown out, then you have a defective fan. It is a common problem.
Hope this helps,

Sony KDS-R50XBR1 /(2005) Red stand-by light blinks 4 times.Tried new bulb (Philips) 1 week ago ,same problem as before .Whole new light engine replaced two yrs ago by sony. What happens is it will turn off...

The error code of 4 blinks indicate a fan problem.the fan is slowing or internitantly stoping. the fan is stallling. or the fans not getting power. Always rember anything that moves will eventally stop. this fan is on all the time. also there more than one fan. Listen closely to hear the fan. The fan is not difficult or exspensive repair.

Sony kds-r50xbr1 turns itself off and then green light blinks 52

I too have a Sony KDS-R60XBR1 tv and the issue that you are experiencing is due to one of your fans in the rear of the tv is not working.  The tv automatically shuts off in protective mode.  Make sure the POWER/STANDBY light is blinking and not the lamp light below it.  Is the power/standby blinking 4 times in red? If, yes then its a fan that needs to be replaced.  If its the lamp light blinking then you need to replace the lamp.  The lamp is easy to replace by ordering the lamp either from Sony for $250 or find it cheaper for approx. $150 from other DLP sources and replace youself by following your manual.  I hope this helps you.

Sony kds-r50xbr1 turns itself off and then green light blinks 52 times

Just replace its Lamp and procedure is written in user manual of KDS-R50XBR1
F93087600 XL-5100 LAMP BLOCK
Lamp is available in Sony Accessories and price is $250
Always buy Sony original lamp for good picture in TV and avoid aftermarket / cheap lamps that can cause damage of TV circuits.

The green is taking over all the color on the tv

I have the same TV which had the same issue ( green in picture ) - back on 10/2007. I called Sony. They had their technician replace the optical box ( factory defect ). There was no charge for the repair even though TV was out of first year of warranty. Call Sony.

Sony KDS-50A2000 screen is in green tint

My Sony KDS 50 A2000 is 17 months old. Its the 50 Inch SXRD projection model. About two weeks ago the screen developed a green tint with cannot be tuned out, then a few days later the message began to appear on the screen that the bulb was nearing the end of its life and must be replaced.
Fortunately I have the Circuit City extended warranty.
I called and within just a few days a serviceman came out and replaced the projection bulb.
The Result: No change in the picture, the green tint remains on all channels, so I'm awating the next service call. Under the service warranty they have the option to repair or replace this set. If indeed this is the light engine (optical block) which I suspect and its going to cost $1,000 or more I may be looking at a new set.
When it works this is a great TV, but I have had three Sonys now including two other standard CRT models and now this one joins them in the junk heap, the other two also bit the dust after just about two years. Is it time to give up on Sony?
I know they have a class action suit on a similar model for this same problem. Caveat emptor
