When networking, I can see the printer on the network, but when I send a test page, the printer immediately says "cancelling". I cannot figure what the problem is. Any suggestions?

Hi,

There must be IP address conflict.
Check the Dell printer IP address

Open Printers and Faxes Folder
Right click on printer icon ( dell )
Click on Properties
Under Ports Tab check the IP address with check mark
If the Ports IP address is Different as that in Dell Printer
Highlight the Port with IP address and click on Configure IP below
Change the IP address to the Printer and Click OK

Also check if there are print job stuck in the Queue ( like no. 1,2 )
The printer icon should show READY and 0
Or Else, Right click on the printer icon and Click Cancel Print job.

Restart your PC and Printer and try to print. It should work
If this does not work, let me know what is the Operating system of your PC

Try this Step if your Operating system is Windows 7
Right click on the printer icon
Left click on Troubleshoot
Continue with the Wizard and complete it
You are ready to print.

Printer IP Address Lookup

<span></span><b>Need assistance in looking up for your printer's IP Address?</b><br /><br /> Often times we see a networked printer suddenly stop working and you need to find a static (private) ip address of the printer to diagnose further. How do we find IP address of a networked printer? There are a few different ways to go about finding it. <br /> <br /> 1. A network printer with built-in ethernet port usually provides a menu button that will allow you to display IP address assigned to it. You may also try printing self test or configuration page from your printer. <br /> <br />2. If you can't find an IP address of a network printer from the menu display or your printer is connected to a printer server with no display, you may find its address from any networked computer configured to use the printer. To find the printer IP address from a Windows machine, perform the following. <br /> <ul> <li>Start -&gt; Printers and Faxes, or Start -&gt; Control Panel -&gt; Printers and Faxes <li>Right-click the printer name, and left-click Properties <li>Click the Ports tab, and widen the first column which displays IP address of the printers </li></ul> 3. If your networked printer uses DHCP, you may connect to your router and find the IP address of the printer from DHCP status page. The router displays all host machines that are assigned dynamic IP addresses. <br /> <br /> 4. You may also try pinging your network from a computer connected to the network, and lookup an arp table. On your computer, click [Start] -&gt; [Run...] and type "cmd" and [Enter]. Type "ipconfig" to find your network address. The network address is found by performing a logical AND operation on your IP address and the subnet mask. For example, if you IP is 192.168.1.101 and subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, then the network address is 192.168.1.0. Ping your network using a broadcast address, i.e. "ping 192.168.1.255". After that, perform "arp -a" to determine all the computing devices connected to the network. One of the IP found is your networked printer. <br /> <br /> 5. You may also use "netstat -r" command to find an IP address of all network routes. However, if your printer has problem communicating with other network devices, you may not be able to find IP address of the printer using "netstat" command.

Printer will not communicate with the computer

1. Walk over to the printer and print a test page directly. The procedure for printing a test page will vary from model to model, so you may need to consult the user guide that came with your printer. For most network printers, you can print a test page by navigating the "Information" menu on the control panel and choosing "Print Configuration" from the menu. For many desktop printers, you can print a test page by holding the power button until the page begins to print. If you can print a test page from the printer, but not from the computer, you know there is a communication problem between the printer and the PC.

2. Remove the printer cable from the back of your printer and the back of your computer. After the cable has been removed, carefully put the cable back into place, making sure that the printer cable is tight. If your printer uses a parallel cable, be sure that it is fully seated on the back of the printer and on the computer. If you are using a USB cable for your printer, be sure that the tab is fully seated in the computer, and that the square end of the cable is firmly connected to the printer.

3. Power down the printer, the restart your computer. Click on the "Start" button and choose "Control Panel" from the menu. Double-click the "Printers and Faxes" icon, locate your printer, right-click on it and choose "Properties" from the menu. Click on the "Print Test Page" button to send a test page to your printer.

4. Look at the network card on your network printer to see if there is good communication between the printer and the network. You should see a flashing green light on the network card. If there is no light--or if the light is amber or red--the communication is not happening. To test the network communication, remove the network cable from both the network cable and the network port on the wall, then reseat the cable and check the communication again. If the problem remains, you will need to remove and replace the printer's network card.

Scanning document to email. 20 pgs. Get "Error Type: Transfer" result report. What does it mean? Running Firmware version 2GR_2000.022.001 2008.08.06

Error Type: Transfer means your scanner/printer is having an issue transferring the documents to the place you want it to go. This usually means the device can't find a network or you've typed in your email incorrectly.
Did you type your email in correctly? Are your networks settings correct and working?
Are you able to send just one page to test it out?

Hi, I rested my HP 1022n Printer, now with old IP address its not printing, how can get my printer new IP address ? and please tell me how can take Test report of same printer, i tried pressing Green(go)...

Every network printer or print server has a unique IP address associated with it. This address is either configured manually or set using an automatic network protocol such as the boot protocol, reverse address resolution protocol or zeroconf. You can normally find the IP address of a printer on the printer's control panel or by printing the configuration page. Select the printers and faxes tab from the control panel. Right click on the printer those you want to find the IP address and click properties. Then click on the ports tab to display the IP address of your printer.

Prior to past few days printer worked fine. Now it prints a few postcards then gives a print buffer message on printer screen and from there on it prints gobbledy gook. Now it won't even print a test...

Sounds like you cover all the bases. I just wonder if you reset the unit via the service mode?
resetting the printer should have cleared the memory.

Hold down select and return while powering on machine, hold until self test comes up on display then press go, this will get you into service mode.

Run the memory diagnostics.

Di351f. Can not print over the network.

I am confused. If you can see the printer via the web browser and you can print a window's test page you are all set up and ready to print. There should be no problem printing as long as you have that printer selected as the default printer and it is selected in whatever program you are printing from. What do you mean by "straight over the network"
