I have updated the firmware and contacted Razer support but this has not solved the problem.

No, I definitely forgot to specify this. It is working still. It plays sound, and the Maelstrom sound control lights up and can still do everything it used to. What the problem is the lights on the headset, the blue razer icons that are supposed to light up whenever it is plugged in, no longer do.

No I do not recall and I can't find anything online about there being an option unlike other Razer products. The headset was bought August 27 of this year so it probably has a 90 day warranty still.

No I do not recall there being an option and I cannot find anything about it being a setting. The headset was purchased on August 27th of this year so it probably has a 90 day warranty. I have tried plugging it into a new computer and the lights do not turn on. (When I first plugged in the headset when I bought it all the lights turned on.)

Since I bought it on amazon I don't know if I want to go through the trouble of packing it and sending it to them and waiting for it to come back just yet. There is still a couple of weeks until the 90 is over so I want to see if I can find a solution in the next couple of weeks first.

I can't think of any reason why these particular lights randomly turned off. The only strange thing that has happened was I was watching a movie on my computer using these headphones and I turned off the desk light, (which is attached to the same outlet as my computer and many other electronics), and the sound cut out. The headphones were still on and everything but I had to either close VLC and reload the movie or unplug and replug the headphones to get the sound back. ( I can't remember which but I think I tried both.) Now this has happened a couple of times and I don't know why this happens but It did happen last night. I didn't notice if the lights went off than (they were on my ears), but in the morning I noticed the lights were off. This might be unrelated but it is literally the only thing that I can think of related to the problem.

One last thing I would like to note. If it helps at all. When I first noticed the lights were off I turned off the lights. (the room lights not the desk lights) When I did this I noticed the headset lights kind of lit of and faded away.

Looking at Amazon it looks like the Return Policy was only 60 days, not 90 days. Is there anyway to go about fixing it myself?

This is actually just the internal LED that has failed, I have seen it numerous times on this model. There is no simple way to fix it, you would have to pull apart the headphones and re-solder a new LED on the headphones. It's definitely not worth it considering the headphones appear to work just fine still.

Let me know if you have more questions about this, just reply to my answer here, but unfortunately there is no "simple" way to get those lights back on, they have essentially just burned out.

Thanks,
Tim

Hi

So is your headset completely dead, it doesn't play any sound anymore? noting?
Sounds like either a cable is broken off, not connected properly etc or something has fried.

You would need to take the headset completely apart if you plan to fix this yourself.

Do you recall if you had an option to turn off the lights somewhere? how old is the headset? warranty?

  • Ekse Nov 02, 2010

Just one more thing, have you checked with other machines, same issues persist? so it looks like its a issue with the headset and since you updated its firmware it can't be a setting.

If it doesn't light up on another pc that it hasn't been used on before. Id take the easy way out and replace it under warranty. If it bothers you enough to take it in.

just replied few seconds after you, now the system wants me to reply again! well hi. let me know if you have further questions about the last comment. : )

only thing I can think of is that you should have your computers on a grounded walloutlet. not just two pins but a ground aswell. it does sound like there might have been a small power surge that might have fried a led or two from the headset. thats really the only thing that seems possible right now.

  • Ekse Nov 02, 2010

yeah that sounds like either the leds or another component that supplies power to the leds failed or fried.

New razer headset..flashing green and not comnecting

If your Razer wireless headset is flashing green and not connecting to your Xbox One, there are a few things you can try:
  1. Reset the headset: Try resetting the headset by holding down the power button for 15 seconds until the light on the headset turns off. Then, turn the headset back on and try to connect it to your Xbox One again.
  2. Check the Xbox One controller: Make sure the Xbox One controller is properly synced with the console and that the batteries in the controller are fully charged.
  3. Check the Xbox One settings: Make sure the Xbox One settings are properly configured for wireless headsets. To do this, go to Settings > Display & Sound > Volume > Party Chat Output and make sure "Headset" is selected.
  4. Check for interference: Make sure there are no other wireless devices or routers nearby that could be interfering with the headset's signal.
  5. Contact Razer support: If none of the above solutions work, contact Razer support for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or help you with a replacement if necessary.

Microphone doesnt work with skype

I've heard of this problem alot, I took 10 minutes today with my friend with this headset to figure out a fix.
From what i can tell, Skype doesnt pick up the Microphones input.

The only solution I could figure out so far has been this.
A voice changing program called MorphVox Pro (by Screaming bee) offers a Trial.
If you download it, and set up your microphone on this to work, You can then in skype select the MorphVOX Pro as your microphone, and you can use this chat program to work with your headset.
This is only a temporary fix But it is a step in the right direction, I'll be forwarding my email to Razer later to try and get some updates for the headset.

Best Regards
Ricky.

My plantronics 220 won't turn off. The blue light won't turn off and I can't get it on or off.

Try letting the battery go completely dead on the headset and then recharge it. This should fix the problem.
