I went to print a picture on my HP 6110 and the color was not right on part of the picture, so I put in brand new ink cartridges ad now the printer can't align them for some reason. What now?

  • Anonymous Sep 08, 2008

After replacing the color ink cartridge, the printer will not align the cartridges. When I attempt to align the cartridges I get an error message stating "failed to align cartridges". To rule out a possible defective ink cartridge, I put the old cartridge back in and I was still unable to align the cartridges. Is there a solution to this problem?

Did you press OK on the printer.  I got the same message and thought that I needed to find some menu on my computer or something but all that was necessary was to hit the OK button on the printer and then it automatically aligned the cartridges.

While taking a print or photocopy shadow is coming on the center of the paper

My printer printing shadow behind all the letters
f you are running the printer's Full Feature Software, go into the Solution Center in the Toolbox and look for a way to clean the cartridges and / or print heads. Do it twice. It uses a bit of ink, but it will get any extra residue drifting around on the nozzles.Your printer's Webpage:
HP Photosmart C4795 All-in-One Printer
Look on the Menu (on the Printer) for the Alignment test. This may also be listed in the same area in the software section where you find the "clean cartridges" option.
General Instructions (may vary):
Align the print cartridges

The printer automatically aligns the print cartridges after a new print
cartridge is installed.

You can also align the print cartridges at other times to ensure optimal
print quality.

To align print cartridges:

1. Load Letter or A4 plain, white paper in the In tray.
2. Open the printer Toolbox.
3. Click Align the Print Cartridges.
4. Click Align, and then follow the onscreen instructions.

How do i align my printhead on canon iP1200

I assume you are using windows.
  1. Go to START, SETTINGS, PRINTERS, double click on the printer icon. Go to FILE, to PROPERTIES, then click on the printer SERVICES tab. Click on ALIGN the print cartridge button and follow instructions on the screen. hope this works
  2. Align the print cartridges Typically, you only align print cartridges after installing or replacing a cartridge. However, you may also need to align cartridges when:
    • Characters are improperly formed or are misaligned at the left margin.
    • Vertical, straight lines are wavy.
    From your printer:
    1. Load plain paper.
    2. Press the Menu button, and scroll to Align Cartridges.
    3. Press Select. An alignment page prints. Once this page prints, your automatic alignment is complete.
    From your computer:
    1. Load plain paper.
    2. Open the Canon Pixma IP 1200 Utility.
    3. From the Cartridges tab, click Align Cartridges... . The Cartridge Alignment dialog appears. alignprintcartridgesa.jpg alignmentpanther.jpg
    4. Click Continue to print the alignment page.
    5. On the Alignment Status dialog, click OK if automatic alignment is successful. If automatic alignment is not successful, clicking OK will return you to Utility Main Window.

Align cartridges error

This means one of the cartridges is defective, they cant align if they cant print.  What i did to fix this problem is insert 2 working cartridges and get it to align properly, even if they are low on ink, then lift the cover and the cartridges will move to the center.  When this happens pull the power cable out, then insert the full non functioning cartridge. Plug the power cable back in.  I tried this with a color cartridge, the color cartridge was non functioning but i was able to print in black.
Basically you align the cartridges and then swap them so the printer thinks they are still aligned.
The color still doesnt work and it is probably a defective color cartridge.

Align Print Cartridges

A simple question first - have you removed the protective tape from the bottom of the cartridges? What kind of printer is it? I suggest you unplug the printer for a few minutes and then try again. Are they the manufacturer's cartridges or a lower cost brand? If they are the latter, it's possible they won't work with your printer.

Align page message

I have an OfficeJet 5780 and I have to do the alignment also. The allignment page it prints should have instructions on it. Just put it in the scanner and press "Enter". It needs to scan it to align the print heads.

This is from the manual on their website:

The HP Officejet prompts you to align cartridges every time you install or
replace a print cartridge. Aligning the cartridges ensures high-quality output.
To align the print cartridges when prompted:
1 Press Enter on the front panel.
An align cartridges (test pattern) page prints.
2 Load the align cartridges page face down in the ADF between the paperwidth
guides and press the Enter button again.
3 Recycle or discard the page.
