Lines are assigned in program 400. Normally, they are assigned by default so someone had to work very hard to unnasign them even though you didn't have the hardware.
Set outgoing line preference. Or simply swap the CO1 and CO2 line plugs. The plug from your service provider that enters in CO1 put it in CO2 port and vice versa. You may need alittle config as well.
So many options. Why are you dialing "9" for an outside line? You can just press a button assigned to the line you want.
Since a 7730 works on up to 18 different Pana systems, there's no telling what you have, but you can assign a specific line to a button, a group to a button, program the system to not pick vacant lines, or dial the direct line 8x or 8xx access code. There's an outside chance that ARS (automatic route selection) is enabled and the "9" doesn't even give you an outside line in the first place.
When you press PROGRAM and CO4, what does the display say? A Panasonic TA series system starts with 3 lines. If you're trying to access line 4 and you don't have it, you might get that display, or line 4's button may be assigned to something else. Last, try unplugging the phone system cabinet and plugging it back in. That will reset all calls.
In program 400, you tell the box you have 6 lines and enable them. On the phone, press PROGRAM and the positions where lines 4,5 and 6 appear and read the display. If it doesn't say CO4-6, then dial 04 STORE 05 STORE etc on each position.
Press program button, select button you want to program, dial 0 then dial CO number as in 001 according to which CO line you wish to program. If you are not sure which CO line is missing, check the button programming by the same method. Press program button then any programmable button and it will be identified in the LCD screen. The CO lines may be 2 digit if you have an older system as in 01, 02, etc
In a TA series system, the lines have to appear on the phone. Press PROGRAM and the CO buttons. Are they assigned? If they are, then you probably have a Class Of Service or Electronic Station Lock issue. Both of them would prevent the phone from getting an outside line.
This is a physicians office and in the past we had to dial nine to get and outside line. Recently we updated to where we have to dial one and then the area code. However since the change our answering service can not get calls after hours because i believe our phones are still programmed to dial nine first. Can you please help us reprogram our phones? Thank you.
