To modern TV, there will not be any preset reistor adjustments on board, as in older TVs. You have to enter its service mode option, using its remote control, select and adjust data value there to make picture aspect correct.

tv powers up but no picture or sound. DVD works great has great picture and sound.

There is a code to get into service mode, but you should read over the service manual before you attempt to enter the service mode and change any settings. You can really mess up your set very easily. You can get the service manual at the link provided below, but you will need to register with the site to get it.
