NTE580 Hi, I live in the UK and I have a broken rectifier on my SMPS board in my dvd player - My UK component suppliers don't stock this rectifier and they will charge me a fortune to get it in for me. My question is this, do you know of a US supplier that ships to the UK or do you know where else I could get it from? Component is: NTE 580 Rectifier or does anyone what the UK equivalent would be...! Thanks
Surely you can find an NTE580 equivilant in the UK. This is just
a 600v 3a silicon diode. I would think you could find a
substitute for this at any electronic part supplier in the UK.
The NTE numbering system is the same as the ECG system and everyone
subs by these numbering systems. Good luck.

If it does not power ON, the main power regulator section circuit [SMPS] board is faulty. Check and replace damaged component/s at it. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Depends where you look. Comet have a list of appointed suppliers for electronic components. If those suppliers don't have / cant get a particular component, as far as they're concerned, it's no longer available. This doesn't mean it's unobtainable, but Comet aren't going to start searching the internet or asking non-appointed suppliers for it.
It took me less than 2 minutes to locate 2 for you from UK suppliers, 1 new, 1 used. I could probably find some more, if I looked a bit harder.
hi,
If there is no standby light then you have to check the power supply of your blue ray player. Its will be an smps power supply. Very carefull while dealing with such power supply beacuse there will be Live areas in the board. You have to check the fuse in the smps. If the fuse is faulty The its sure that the smps driver MOSFET is short. Before replacing the fuse you have to check the MOSFET. If not it will lead to further dameges to your system.
If the fuse is ok and the power supply is perfect then the mother board of your player is faulty. If so then you have to contact the nearest Authorise servicing center to get it repaired.
ok
i had this happen myself a few months ago, power switch blew, i took the machine apart took out the power switch, and visited a few local electrical component suppliers, its a standard switch but its 2 stage single throw switch, home depot/Lowe's don't carry this type. ended up going to 3 diff suppliers and finally found a commercial supplier that had it connected the new one and now its fine, works better than the old one ever did. just make sure you bring the broken switch with you when you go to show them, most good suppliers can match it and see if they have one like it in stock.
hi, there is possibility of two complaints. 1, The SMPS power supply fault 2. the mother board fault. if the SMPS is faulty the you can rectify the problem. If it is with the mother board the you have to contact the manufacturer . First of all you have to check the SMPS ( switch mode power supply). you have to check the voltages at it secondary stage. 5v, 12v, etc switched-mode power supply (switching-mode power supply, SMPS, or simply switcher) is an electronic power supply
that incorporates a switching regulator in order to be highly efficient
in the conversion of electrical power. Like other types of power
supplies, an SMPS transfers power from a source like the electrical power grid to a load (e.g., a personal computer) while converting voltage and current
characteristics. An SMPS is usually employed to efficiently provide a
regulated output voltage, typically at a level different from the input
voltage for checkin the SMPS voltaes you need a multimeter. And check the voltages at it secondary stage Added the inside view of BD 1600
if there is no outputs from the smps then you have to replace the SMPS drive STR ic near the big capacitor. Also ty to replace the OPTO coupler ic. y have to check the all resistors near the ic.
Remember one important thing that the capacitor can hold charge for some time even if you disconnect the power. so after removing the power. remove the SMPS very carefully. discharged the capacitor using a bulb. i have also added a video for SMPS working for you reference will hep you for repairing your one
Only if the power supply has been restored back with the replacement of the capacitor and fuse can we proceed forward. If not you will need to check the SMPS unit to replace damaged components to restore the supply.
If supply seems correct, then check the +5 to the processor unit. In event of high voltage it is possible that the mother board is affected.
No way but to open the cover the mechanism and remove from the drive of the mechanism.
If the power is present, then check the loading motor drive mechanism , checkthe drive IC for fault.
If not check the power from the SMPS and rectify.
If not the board can be faulty.
