SOURCE: No sound with USB and IPOD Apline IDA-X100

You connected your blue alpine wire (power antenna) to your blue wire (amplifier remote on) on the BMW harness adapter. You need to undo this, amputate your blue alpine wire (because your E36 has no power antenna) and connect the alpine blue wire with white stripe (remote power) to your blue wire on the harness adapter.

When you switch source from the radio, alpine is shutting off your amplifier through the connected power antenna wire. Since you're not listening to the radio anymore, it sees no reason why it should give it power.

I can't get my xo vision xo1915bt cd player to play my ipod. i plug it in using the usb n after a few mins of loading it goes back to the screensaver n says rep cancel. How do i get my ipod to play?

You cant get it to play your iPod with the USB connection. The only way to get it to play an iPod is if you hook up the AUX connection located in the back of the unit. get yourself a red/white to 3.5mm cable (3 ft should do) and run it through your dash into a location that will be convienent to put your iPod. The only other way to play an iPod is if it is one of the newer touch models that has Bluetooth. Then you can use the A2DP connection to play it wirelessly.

In short, the USB is only for charging your iPod, or playing music on flashdrives.

For some reason my ipod touch won't play when I plug it into my stereo. It is playing out of the ipod itself. How do I turn this off.

Hello.
This is a very common problem, you may have to get a different jack that works with the headset jack thats on the iPod. iPhones and iPods have a weird style jack on the top that wont allow most headphone or 3.0mm to 3.0mm jacks to go fully inside the jack causing it so there is not connection with the jack itself in the iPod. You can check this by turning the volume up and down using the rocker buttons on the side while you are at the home screen with no music playing and see if it says speaker or headphones when your turn the volume up and down. Speaker means there is no jack connection, headphone means that there should be music playing through the stereo. Thats using the jack.
If your talking about an iHome or other direct plug in stereo specifically for the iPods and iPhones, make sure that the dock is the correct dock for the iPod, and make sure that it is pressed fully down onto the dock. If all that is correct there should be no problem. If the problem still is happening, it may be your stereo. =/ Goodluck! Hope this helps!

Iphone connection via usb

USB wires are universal, so No you shuouldn't need another wire.
My friend had a similar problem with his new AUDI 58 plate.
(shares the same "VAG" parts bin as your car)

He found that his new ipod was not compatible, and Audi said they need to upgrade their software. Audi dealer Re-imbursed him the cost of ipod.

check with your Dealer and find out which versions of ipod ARE compatable.
i've noticed quite a few things with Ipod compatibility dont support the iphone. & now there's a new iphone just to make things more difficult.
Good Luck.

When I plug my iPhone into the USB it doesn't

ANSWER: The headphone jack will not charge your iPod. Only the USB will charge your iPod. However, the headphone jack will play music, but the USB will not play music from your iPod.
REASON: The headphone jack does not provide any power to charge your iPod. It isnly has enough power to recieve a music signal.
REASON WHY YOU CANNOT PLAY IPOD THROUGH THE USB: The USB is only intended to be used with a flash drive or external hard drive with a folder structure containing either .mp3 or .wma files. The way the USB works on the system is that it reads all the files and folders on the entire device and will say "reading" until it reads all the files and folders. This should only take a few seconds but if there is tons of files it may take longer. Main problem: An iPod contains much more than just music files and folders - it contains an entire operating system. Worse, the operating system which the iPod uses is protected, keeping other devices except for iTunes from reading the music files.
TO PLAY MUSIC FROM USB (NOT IPOD): You will need to use a flash drive or external hard drive with your USB. This device can only contain music, and the music must be organized into folders. Your iPod will not work. However, you can use Auxiliary input using a cable which both ends are 1/4" headphone jacks, one end going to the iPod and other plugged into your stereo.
SOLUTION: To charge your iPod, you need to plug it into USB. However, to play music, you need to plug your iPod into the headphone jack.
Good Luck! - Chris Proia

Ipod dock

i had this problem too. the thing is when you plug the USB cord into it that just charges your ipod. you have to buy a cord that goes into the headphone hole and the other side plugs into the hole beside the USB slot on the treadmill. i got mine at Radioshack. so once you buy that the speakers will play your music and you can charge your ipod at the same time. =)

Hello, I have the pioneer AVIC 700bt. When I plug my Ipod nano into the USB adapter on the head unit, the Ipod display comes up right away and it shows that it is playing but there is no sound coming...

You will need to be using the CD-IU230V cable for the iPod.
After connections, you will also need to follow these step:
Press "menu".
Press "settings"
Press " AV Settings"
Press "AV1 Input" multiple times until it says iPod.

You will now be able to hear the sound from the ipod when it is selected as a source.

Itouch charging

Hi there,

Some speaker systems which are only compatible for charging the ipod nanos and classics do not work with the iPod Touch and the iPhone, the internals are slighly different from one another which will not allow that speaker system to charge your iTouch.

To play & Charge your touch, i suggest getting a speaker system that supports the iPod touch platform.

Hope this helps ?!
