The amplifier turns on like it should and lights up the logo but the red power button will only turn on for a second. Its been in the shop before because there was a fuse blown on the inside, I think thats the case again but i dont want to replace it unless i have to. When i put a power tester on the power and ground connection it shows the power and then the red light turns on againg with the tester on the power and antenna connections but only stays on for a second or two.

You probably have a shorted output device. This causes the amplifier to shut down because the protection circuit sees excess current being drawn.
Test the output devices with an ohmmeter, replace the shorted one and test all components nearby. This is usually a job for an experienced repairman.

SOURCE: Jensen VM9311/ UV7i wont turn on!!?

Yo, I've got the perfect solution to your problem. Pull out the head unit from your dash. Then, remove the wiring harness carefully from the unit. Now, push in the yellow power wire (even jiggle it a little) making sure it's tightly snug the small port of the wiring harness. Then, plug the harness back into the unit and try turning it on. I've found that the wires come lose easily on this unit. hit me back up at [email protected].

If you followed the instructions correctly, then the amp must be defective. This is sort of simple.

My generic suggestions:
You have the power, the ground, the outputs to the speakers, and then the input.

Make sure that none of the speaker wires are somehow being grounded. Make sure that nothing is shorted that feeds the speakers.

SOURCE: amp works when beaten

It sounds like you have a broken connection in the amplifier. The first thing to check is the fuse. Sometimes the contacts become weak on the fuse holder and the connection becomes intermittent. Any other troubleshooting would require opening up the amp. Any repairs would require resoldering the broken connection.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

My amp stopped workin, when i turn the stereo on, the green light is on, then when the music starts to play it turns red and stops working,

The red light on amplifier relates to power supply while the green light is indication of sound functionality. An amplifier that allows sound to generate should display both red and green lights. Howeever, some amplifiers would display only green as long as the sound is functioning.

Solving the problem

First, a red light still on means the power connections to the amplifier is fucntional least requirng repairs.

Second, the green ligh should turn on once the stereo were tuned up to produce sound. If the stereo is still on only least produce sound on the amplifier, check on the connection wires between stereo to amplifier that may have disconnected due to woofing or dubbing sound generals with unfirm wiring.

Green power light comes on for a split second, then red.

The power supply (AC adapter) is bad. It has enough power to light the red LED, but not enough to power the TV.http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=12+volt+5+amp+power+supply&_sacat=See-All-Categories
