Hi,
This problem is certainly dirty or worn video heads, most likely just dirty. You could try cleaning with a tape head cleaner (wet type) If this doesn't work, contact me again, and I'll email you detailed instructions for cleaning.

Kind Regards....Dave

I was able to connect a dvd player to old tv with a rf modulator.now is there a way to hook up a vcr on same rf modulator so as not to change connections each time you want to watch the vcr with instead of...

well...the reason its sooo hard is that this modulator is not intended for this use. its used for BIG jobs. you can normally do what you want with a simple rf modulator you buy at walmart or radio shack as it has a cable in and cable out, but

You dont even need a rf modulator.
The VCR can do it for free simply; hook the yellow , white if your vcr has red as well (depending on how old )...BOTH or all Three color to color from VCR(INPUT) to DVD
then use a piece of coax cable from the vcr out to tv.

test vcr by making sure that it work on either channel 3 - or 4 on tv. (leave VCR on)

Then to test your DVD connection first turn DVD player on.;.Then on front of VCR press channel down ON VCR until it says L1 or L2 this is under channel 2 when channel downing.

you should now see the dvd player on screen on either L1 or L2 depending on vcr.

now buy doing this your vcr must be on the L1 (L2) anytime you watch a dvd but when you want to watch a tape you just put it in and press play since TV itself is never changed.
when you want to go back to dvd,...stop tape and should still be right on the L1 or L2 again.

I own a older model citizen tv vcr combo. it is the box style and i cant watch any channels on it. the only channel it allows me to view is ch 2. i can watch a movie aswell. also if there is not a movie...

You need to autoprogram your channels with the Remote that came with the VCR combo. The Tape issue is common with many older TV VCR combo units. Put a tape in that is rewound and hit stop and then tune in your channels.

Can the LG 990W VHS VCR receive digital TV signal

VCR is analogue, However you can still use it to record digital programmes when connected via a digital set top box. You can only record the channel you have selected on the screen. In other words, you cannot record a channel programme while watching another channel. I use mine on a second TV and when recorded I take the tape out and put it into my main TV for viewing at a later date. I don't watch too much TV so it works fine for me for the odd programme.

We were just watching a vhs movie on our tv/vcr combo unit and the picture went to fuzz however, the sound was still working. any suggestions or are we in need of a new unit.

Some VHS have a tracking button that allows the user to tune to the best signal. Usually that tracking function is used as follows.
While movie is playing on the VHS unit and signal gets fuzzy, press the channel key repeatedly (for example >> to increase the channel number). f after awhile pressing the same channel change button does not find a better picture, you should press the other channel change button (to decrease the channel number <<) to see if the picture improves.

If that does not work, IT DOES NOT MEAN that you tv/vcr combo unit is defective. It could just be the movie. The tape is magnetic and it might have been accidentally demagnetized.

If picture is better with another movie/tape, your unit is definitely OK.

Stuck VHS Tape/Power Issue

It sounds like the vcr is not completely loading the tape, and is overloading or getting confused. If you feel up to it, you can take the cover off the tv, find the tape loading mechanism, and 'help' the loading rollers along yourself... once the tape loads, eject it immediately, and you should be off and running again. Just be careful not to touch any electrical connections. If you're not comfortable with that, you're right, it's probably cheaper to get a newer tv - check with a local independent shop first, though, it should be a really quick fix.

Connections

Without the manual !!
1)VCR INPUT:: [Cable_antenna In] the coxial screws on from "output" of cable box or ( airwave )antenna.
2) VCR output:: connect another coxial into input of TV. You should be able to keep all the other wires connected from SONY theater system.
note:: your VCR has a switch for VCR\TV. When u have a VHS tape playing a movie & switch from VCR to TV, you will see the channel that is on the VCR not the cable box\ antenna input.
example:Cable channel is on Ch.122, & your TV must be set to Ch.3 to view cable. If your VCR is set to Ch/5 you may not see that Ch.122.You will still be able to see your VHS tape when u place the VCR\TV switch back to VCR.
I am going to share wt.u a $100,000,000.00 trick:put any ch.on cable box.Switch VCR\TV to TV,change channel ON VHS tuner. When u come to the [picture] that the cable box is on,Then that is the Ch.u can see cable ON the VHS.
U owe me!!

Can not tape from cable, blue screen

If you have a cable box connected now, leave the VCR on channel 3 all the time and use the channels from the cable box.
The way this should be connected is cable in to cable box and cable out to VCR, VCR output to TV IN.
Hope this works for you.

VCR/DVD player DVP3340V/17

Are you using the cable connectors to go into the VCR, and then from the VCR to the TV?

If so, turn the VCR on. Put the TV on channel 3 or 4 (depending on which one you have it set to. If you are unsure, try both channels one at a time) Press the VCR/DVD button so the display on the VCR says VCR (not DVD). Now, you should be able to change the channel with your VCR remote control. If not, you have a problem with your cables. Make sure your cable from the wall goes to RF IN on your VCR. The RF Out on the VCR should go to your TV ANT In or TV RF In.

If you have successfully gotten your TV to display the TV station shown on the front of your VCR, then all you have to do is put in a tape, select the channel you want to record and press the record button.

If you want to watch another channel while you're recording, press the TV/VCR button on the VCR remote, then use your TV remote to change channels.

When you want to stop recording, press the stop button, put the TV back onto channel 3 or 4 (depending on what you have it set to) and press the TV/VCR button on your VCR again. From here you can rewind and view your recording.
