My refrigerator temperator does not seem to be cooling, when I turn the temp control to colder the refrigerator does not seem to get cooler, but the freezer will

The higher the letter the cooler it will try to go. Same for number.
C is cooler than B, E or F is colder still.

Numbers work same way.. 1 = warmest setting .

does the compressor run ? if so you could have a low refrigerant charge, a sealed unit resrtiction, leak or defective compressor.

If I am not mistaken, the True line-up of coolers have a temp control on them that is labeled 0-9.

This particular type of temp control is a coil temp control. I measures the temperature of the coil rather than air temperature.

Always set the control to the warmest setting and move it colder by one number at a time until your product reaches and holds designed temp. Do not go by cooler air temperature as there will be a great swing in temp especially if the doors are used frequently. Always temp the product. In the case of beer, your ideal holding temp is between 35-38°.


If you set the temp control to the warmest setting and the cooler is still freezing product, you will need to have the cooler serviced be a refrigeration tech. It will most likely be a bad control but there may be underlying problems.

And it should. If you set it colder it will try to reach the new setting. If you set it warmer it will cut off till it reaches the set temp and will come back on to maintain the set temp.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge.The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

first of what temperature are you running is the refrigerator and also what is the ambient temp? whats happeneing is that the water resevour is freezing in the back of the refrigerator . So if the temperature is say 34 iit can actually be a lot colder in the regfriigerator than that due to temperature averaging. Thanks fpor using Fixya and Merry Christmas

1 is usually the warmest setting. The higher the number to colder the setting. Start in the middle and make minor adjustments allowing considerable time in between to dial in the temp of your unit.

toatlly normal operation, realize that the machine needs to shut off/ on to regualte temp, new electronic thermistors are sensitive enought to detect miute temp flux, i wouldnt be concerned about this

you need to locate the defrost timer should be in the same box the temp control is some have little knobs some have funky little screw heads like the screws in bathroom stalls should be a hole in the housing where the thermostat is turn it slowley clockwise till you hear thu unit come on if it before you do that smack the temp control first a couple of times make sure its not sticking then let me know

I would expect the defrost timer to stay in defrost 21 minutes. IT seems your timer is normal.
If turning the ref section temp colder made compressor come on, it could be that the thermostat is worn a little and just needs to stay on a little cooler setting. Check the freezer temp dial and It should be at just slightly more than 1/2 of available setting. If there is A B C you would want to be a little cooler than B about B and 1/4.
