When you format your hard disk and re-install Windows you also need to install the computer's device drivers such as the video driver, audio driver etc.
You can download the computer's device drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's WEB site.
I can provide you with more assistance, but you need to give me the make and model of your motherboard and the expansion card that are installed on the motherboard.

heres the chaintech website http://www.motherboard.cz/chaintech.htm you will need to identify your motherboard model - should be written on the actual board and then download the soundcard drivers - you should also download the motherboard chipset drivers, they will have an impact on the performance
you may be able to get the motherboard model by running www.belarc.com

Not able to install motherboard drivers and soun is not woking

after doing the format the sound,video,network,chipset etc drivers needed to be installed....
if you have the drivers cd which came along with the computer then you can see that that cd will have all these drivers listed in it so install these drivers & especially for the motherboard drivers i would like to tell you that the chipset drivers are the motherboard drivers..

i could be a realtek sound chip, althouh XP normally has this built in,so go to the link below for the driver. http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/ If its not realtek you need to find out the chipset fitted.
