SOURCE: Nikon DX AF- S Nikkor 18-55 mm lens won't Auto focus

Is the switch on the side of the lens set to manual or auto? Sometimes it's the little things like this that we don't notice.

My nikon D60 is taking dark photos.

The only reason the camera will be taking dark photos is when it is under exposing the image taken. This can be due to the exposure compensation set to under expose the metered exposure. Make sure the expsosure compensation is set to '0' or increase it to compensate for the dark photos.

Also inaccurately metering a scene (such as a high contrast scene) can easily fool the meter into under exposing, especially outdoors.

Error Message

Try to take off the battery and reset the camera. You can also try to remove the lens and check the mirror opening..see if there is some thing stuck there. You can try to click the shutter while the lens is removed. If this procedure didn't work I suggest calling Nikon for further repairs.

Just bought Nikon D60. No matter what mode I use

looks like a viewfinder has an issue. If you have recently bought the thing just return it and get a new one. If not possible to replace , i recommend visiting Nikon authorised service center.
Could be something in the path of pentaprism.

Can Nikon D60 work with 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G Zoom Nikkor

Yes, it will work just fine. I have this lens and my father has basically the same camera (D40) and it works just fine with this lens.
