From the information supplied, and being a Toshiba owner, new units are shipped with a trial version of MS Office. When the key ID numbers are requested you have exhausted the amount of time you can use the program contents for free. Now you must register/buy the product. If you purchased the retail version-the key is on the bck of the sleeve the CD/DVD came in.

In case of your Toshiba laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.
Hello. I think the product key at the bottom of your laptop refers to the Certificate of Authenticity of the Microsoft Windows (Vista or 7 or whatever you have) installed on your computer. For your Microsoft office suite, its product key is usually on a sticker attached to the inside of
your CD case or located with the manual that came with Office 2007. If
you downloaded Microsoft Office 2007, the CD key was probably in an
email from Microsoft
You have to buy the MS Office product and they will send you a key. Your OS key will not work as you have discovered. MS Office only works 25 times or 60 days unless you buy it.
An alternative, free, is to use OpenOffice.org which has the same functions.
You will have to find the CD for your other verson or Buy an new one from microsoft. You can upgrade your trail version right on line (money) but if it was me I would buy the cd...
They key should be on the cd sleeve or the box that the cd came in. Otherwise put in the cd, go to view files of the cd and then find the readme file and it should be listed in there.
Hi, All laptops now come with a trial version of Office 2007, the product key will only activate the operating system and nothing else, this is how company's like Microsoft make money as they expect you to use the Office suite for a length of time and when the trial period has expired they want you to buy a permanent product key from them. What you are not told is the trial period could have run out well before you bought the laptop which in my view defeats the object!!! You will either have to buy a product key or download openoffice for free.
