I'm looking for an owners manual for the Nakamichi R 1Stereo Receiver, built from 1990-1992
Sorry if it is too late:
The remote control sensor is located in the receiver. The full system is made of the Receiver, a Cassette and CD player, and an equalizer (which I have never seen just heard about it). In order to control all your system you need to connect all the devices together. If you have the Receiver and the Cassette Deck, you will need to connect both with a cable that has 1/8" stereo headphone jacks on both ends, thus the system will be controlled by a single remote and when you shut down the receiver it will also shut down the CD/cassete deck.
My owner's manual is long lost, what do you need to know?
I don't know what problem you have, but mine, which Iv'e had since circa 1988, suddenly developed a failrly loud whistle from the speakers. I opened it for a looksee, and by chance spotted a dry joint on teh PCB. It had never been soldered properly. After soldiring that joint, the whistle is gone.....

Tks, Lukas, but I'm looking for some info on the remote: I got this from a friend, who rescued it from a dumpster; repair ship said it was worth fixing, so for $100 they resoldered some areas that got wet (when it was in the dumpster).
It says something about a remote on the back of the receiver:
Will a universal remote work? If so, what code do I use? Is the remote sensor on the front faceplate, or was it an add-on that plugged into the back of the unit, and has the sensor routed around to the front? If so, then this would be specific to the Nak, and a universal might not work....
tks.
