The handle to my microwave broke off. It seems that there are two white pins that hold the handle to the door. The top of the pins have broke off. the pins need to be replaced from inside the door, but I can't see how to remove the covers to get inside the door and replace the pins. THere are 4 small screws located in the side of the door where the handle is located. However, when I remove the screws I still can't get inside the door. Also, although I have ordered a new handle it looks like I will need new pins, can anyone tell me where to find the pins and fix my problem?
The bottom of my handle broke away. Like the previous poster, I have screws (3 in my case) on the side of the door, but removing those does not loosen anything. The solution posted was to remove the door latches first, but I can't see how that is done. Unfortunately it now appears I may have cracked the front panel and will need to replace that as well. The bottom of my handle broke away. The door handle can easily be replaced on most microwave ovens by removing the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The following link explains how to access and replace the door handle:
The average cost for a replacement handle usually averages about $20 - $40. Replacements may be purchased at the websites listed in the link I provided. If the model number you have this question listed under is correct, the part number for a replacement handle is 5304440323.
If you have any questions, please post back with your complete model number (if different than the one listed) and let me know. I hope this helps you.
If at all possible try getting an exploded image break down to see what
needs to happen, basically you have two things in your way one is the
"choke"...the large black rectangle on the inside of the door this has
to be pryed off carefully all the way around and lifted off, pocket
knife works great to get it started. next you will have the front door
assembly snapped onto the mesh screen and frame of the door itself.
Once you have seperated the front door you will see the screws for the
handle, DONT OVERTIGHTEN these screws when you reinstall.
Hopefully this video clip
You must pry out the plastic strip that surrounds the window on the inside of the door to reach the top screw that holds on the handle. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny on the replacement handle as well.
I have the same issue. The Handle broke off my GE Microwave Oven (Model JVM1190SY 001). GE does not sell the handle seperately from what I can tell. I just ordered a new door. It's rediculously expensive. I tried to replace the handle with a nice drawer pull but couldn't find a size pull to match and I broke the plastic cover trying to get access to the screws for the handle, which is why I decided to buy the new door. Hopefully installation is not that difficult. This oven was manufactured in 2001, seems the handles have a 7 year life span.
when door is open on the edge you wil find a plastic strip .remove carefuly with flat screw driver .when removed youwill find the screws holding the handle undo screws and replace .dont 4get to replace plastic strip
