Error code 0x00000103 in acer aspire 5783z while installing audio driver no inbuild mic is working

you might not have installed drivers for the mic on your notebook. Make sure you have installed all drivers and then go to CONTROL PANEL, AUDIO, and check if your mic is working.

When I tried to update the Realtek HD Audio drivers for my ASUS F5GL Notebook I got a message coming up saying "Install Realtek HD Audio driver failure !!" with the error code 0x00000103.

This is verry verry common in these Acer note books part of witch the driver cannot find the audio device that is on the mainboard. Most cases a nice recover does work by running the acer recovery consol that is on your Aspire desktop.

Now there should be a disk that came with your Aspire if not you need to visit www.acer.com and have them ship you out your disk. Only after recover if the sound drvier still failes you going to need to have the laptop looked at. Again this is verry common and the only solutin is recovery if that solution does not work then acer will need to get involved.

OK you need to install the Audio manager software, and the software that controls those buttons. Go to the web site and get them and install, after you do, all buttons will work, and you will be able to access the Mic. If you go to sounds in control panel. and click SOUND, then RECORDING you should find controls there? You must configure it before it will work. It still may work without audio manager installed, the buttons will not, you need this.

I was able to solve this by downloading the REALTEK R2.17 driver directly from the the REALTEK download page and installing it:

No it recognizes the mic when inserted on the frontal jack and let it work.

The file is called: WDM_R217.exe

The microphone is managed by audio drivers, same drivers used for the rest of audio function.
If you have no audio reinstall drivers.

If you have sound but mic is not working go to control panel / audio settings and enable the microfone.

You also find a mic enable/disable option in the small mixer that you can start from the icon near to the clock.

This solution works for the Windows XP version. Go to msconfig.exe, then the Startup tab. UNCHECK rthdcpl and restart. Realtek driver doesn't load, but who cares...the microphone works now.
