Question about Televison & Video

2 Answers

I just moved to Rome and bought a great new Samsung home theatre system. Unfortunately, I was not aware of the region code situation and of course, none of my US DVD's and most of my Blue Rays do not play. I can not return the system, so I am very dissapointed. I heard there was a way to convert the players to region free....can someone help? It is a Samsung HT-C6200 Thanks!

It's not possible to make a Blu-Ray region free, of any brand and model, at this moment. And unfortunately your Samsung is a model specifically designed for Europe and the region code is hard coded in it and cannot be changed.
But you can do something else to view your disks : just buy a cheap pc with a BR-writer unit and VLC media player and you will not have a problem with region codes ever again.

There is not BR tv so i really don't understand your first proposition - yes, i was talking about a 2.1 mini home-theater.
I''m sorry to tell you but what they are talking is hardware modifications that would cost you more that what you payed for unit. And using a hardware device to crack a protection in an electronic device is illegal in Italy so you can't do it anyway , you will have to send it in UK for that.

Unfortunately with this unit there is no way to do a region unlock on the player. Many of these combo units that come with speakers attached are this way. Unfortunately you will want to attach some other blu-ray player that is region free to your setup, it seems crazy but that's pretty much the only way to get it to work, a blu-ray player plugged into one of the inputs on this blu-ray player / receiver.

If you need a recommendation of model let me know...

Region free code samsung

Unless you bought a DVD for multi-region(very difficult to find), most especially without the remote, you will not be able to change the region code. These firmware changes are generally uploaded by inserting a disc with the firmware on it. These units are manufactured this way with firmware(software) downloaded, or imbedded within the Microprocessor(computer or memory) and not be changed.
