I will assume all other software functions. You replaced and upgraded memory. Did all memory chips used have matching clock speeds? ( if clock speed not matching memory can either not work or be sporadic) You should check your computer settings and verify the memory value (1 qb) is showing.
Did you in place memory in proper location (slots)? Did you fill all slots with 250 GB (assuming 4 slots)?
did you try removing and reinstalling software "Astro"?

You should check with the folks at Dell since whoever wrote their technical manuals for this machine can't do basic math. There are 2 memory slots and each can handle a maximum capacity of 512MB, yet they claim the maximum capacity for the machine is 2GB instead of 1GB. Using 512MB modules would probably work.

i think u r using 2 RAMs and one of them is not working. try to remove one of them your problem will be solved.
and if u have only one RAM of 1gb then replace it.
