It is likely there is a failure of one of the power supply voltages. The solution requires troubleshooting that is NOT DIY unless you are electronically skilled.

How do I fix channels with no sound

Mute Switch/Mute-Clip LED :
  • This switch mutes all Aux, Group and L/R sends from the corresponding channel.
  • This switch is equipped with a red LED that will illuminate when the channel is muted.
  • When the MUTE button is out,the LED functions as a Clip indicator that will illuminate at 2 dB below clipping.
  • Muting the channel does not prevent the PFL signal from being sent to the PFL/AFL mix when the PFL Switch (12) is in.
  • This switch mutes its respective Group send from the Group channel.

You can also try, Restoring Factory Settings, in the Utility Menu Options.

Peavey FX Mixer Series Operating Manual

CAUTION:
Restoring the factory settings option resets your mixer's presets, reformatting factory presets and erasing all other user presets. (This option is handy when your venue has permanently changed and all-new presets are required.)
Once confirmed, the presets are not retrievable and will be permanently lost.
Should you select this option in error, a warning screen allows you to cancel the procedure.

I only have a vintage Peavey XR600B and I want to connect and ipod and ipad up to it so I can play music. Can I do this or do I need special cables?

Sure you can, but that mixer amp is a mono amp instead of stereo. Head for radio shack and get an 1/8" stereo male phone jack to 1/4" female mono adaptor. Plug the adaper into the headphone output of your device. Then run a shielded cable with 1/4" mono phone plugs on both ends (like an electric guitar would use) from the device to one of the channels on the Peavey. Bring the volume up on both the channel and master on the amp up maybe 1/3 the way. Play a track on your device and adjust the devices out put as high as it will go with out distorting the channel input. Then adjust the amp's channel and main output as you would normally to get the final volume you need.

I have been given a peavey pv8 mixer without the power supply, I have used a different power supply with the same voltage, my problem is when it's turned on the clip lights are glowing on all channels and...

Kinda hard to tell you exactly what the problem is. Your current power supply may not be able to give you the amperage you need even though the voltage is the same. You can get the correct power supply on Ebay.

I can`t get any sound from my pv8 mixer i put the speaker cable i have put the red & white phonos into the mixer from my laptop getting on sound from the clip at all please can you tell me where i am...

Several things to do: Plugging into the tape type inputs... say the 7/8 channel.

The little button below the set you plug into needs to be pushed to the down position. This selects the "B" set which are the RCA jacks.

Below the set you are plugged into. Turn up the top knob "Gain" until the "clip" LED just isn't quite flashing.

At the bottom of that same column Turn up the "level" as needed for the mix.

Then of course, advance the Master level as needed.

My husband purchased one of your xr8600 peavey mixer the problem hes having is he cant get the echo settings right.please can you help.

View videos on YouTube regarding "mixer setup". Find the parts of setting up of "effects". Don't worry that you have a different mixer, the principles are all the same for analog mixers. Steps are this: Set the EFX send level for EACH of the input channels (knob above each channel gain) for the proportion you want for each channel. Check that the level you are sending does NOT cause the effect clip light to light very much. Set the effect you want, delay, echo, etc. with the selector knob. Advance the output sent to the power amp with the two knobs in the upper right of the panel. Adjust the "time" knob for the delay or effect depth you want. Then go over the same settings in the same order until you get the sound you want.

I have the peavey xr 8600 and i wanna know how to connect an additional non powerd mixer to it ( i wanna use the peavey as an amp??

That's easily done. Simply connect the left(or right) output of your mixer to one of the channels on the peavey. Use any line input. Since the peavey is a mono system, there's no need sending a stereo mix to it.

My pv6 mixers red clip lights remain on

FIRST check that your power adapter is 16 VAC at 1 AMP and that it is the original unit.

The clip lights monitor levels at several points. If you cranked the EQ's for maximum, say bass, that MAY cause them to illuminate.

As a test, set all EQ's at mid point. Remove ALL input cables. Are the lights still on?

It is possible that you can have a ground loop that is putting signals in that causes clipping. Another source is if you have a microphone that may be FEEDBACKING at supersonic frequency that you can't hear... that is why we disconnect all the inputs as a test.

Finding schematics so one can repair these devices can be a problem. If ALL the clip lights ar on, then it is probably the reference level source for the clip level threshold... however finding a schematic would be necessary and while part cost would be probably under a dollar, the labor and time to find the schematic would be unknown.

PV6 clip lights stay on

You've lost one of the power supply rails. It needs to be repaired or replaced.
