Install another scanning software, if you have photoshop or any imaging software, you can use the scanner by going to the menu, then choose File, Import, TWAIN, Acquire and the scanner control will appear.
Or just go to My Computer and double click the scanner icon (in XP) to start the scanning assistant.
All is well!
I just followed some other person's solution (at a more responsive forum!) by downloading the latest .exe files from Epson and now everything is working just fine.
thanks for answering my post above....ha, ha, ha. :)
Starting a Scan With EPSON Scan
If you want to scan an image and save it directly to a file, you can start EPSON Scan as a “standalone” program. Place your document or photo on the scanner. See Placing Documents or Photos for instructions.
Do one of the following to start EPSON Scan:
Windows: Double-click the EPSON Scan icon on your desktop.
Or select Start > All Programs or Programs > EPSON Scan > EPSON Scan.
Mac OS X: Open the Applications folder and click the EPSON Scan icon.
The EPSON Scan window appears.
If the Mode setting in the upper right corner of the window is set to Full Auto Mode, click the Scan button. For instructions on selecting optional settings, see Using Full Auto Mode.
When you are finished selecting File Save Settings, click OK. EPSON Scan starts scanning in Full Auto Mode.
The scanned image is automatically saved in the specified location.
If the Open image folder after scanning
checkbox is selected in the File Save Settings window, Windows Explorer
or the Macintosh Finder automatically opens to the folder where the
scanned image was saved.

In this case Try to Do a Wia scan i will tell u how..........
Windows Vista: Go to Start/All Programmes/Windows Photo Gallery........... There you will see an option saying File click on that and now on the drop down click on Import from Scanner or Camera.........Select ur scanner from that list and click on Import............. If it doesnt scan and does the same thing it insists that there should be a Problem with the scanner......... If that works.......... Software Problem............. Uninstall and Reinstall the software................ Good Luck..................
1. Launch Epson Scan by going into your HARD DRIVE, APPLICATIONS, and EPSON SCAN. 2. If prompted, select your scanner from the list of models and click OK. 3. In the FILE SAVE SETTINGS window, you can designate the location, name and type of file the scans will be saved as.
-LOCATION defaults to HD/USERS/(YOUR USER NAME)/PICTURES. Click CHOOSE if you wish to change this. -PREFIX determines how the scan will be named. Type any name you like. You can also designate a start number. -FILE TYPE dictates what format the scans will be saved in. ie. .JPG, .TIFF, .PDF, or .PICT) -For example: if the prefix is "img", the start number is "1", and the format is "JPG", the name of the file saved in PICTURES will be "IMG001.JPG"
4. Click OK once settings are changed as desired. 5. The EPSON SCAN window will open and begin scanning in FULL AUTO MODE. In FULL AUTO MODE the software makes all the decisions for you (as to what is being scanned, where it is on the flatbed, etc). This is the easiest way to scan. 6. If you want full control over the scanning process click PAUSE and change FULL AUTO MODE to HOME MODE or PROFESSIONAL MODE. In the latter two modes you can change your scan settings as desired. Click SCAN after you have selected your settings. Click CLOSE once the EPSON SCAN is finished scanning. 7. When scanning is complete, your images will be saved in the location specified on FILE SAVE SETTINGS, with the prefix and in the format you set.
