My 6 year old LG above stove microwave is giving me an error message E-4 when I try to use reheat.

try unplugging the unit for about 5 min..... for the microwave to reset. Plug back in and try a microwaveable safe bowl with a little water for 30 sec. This may take care of the error message.
F4 indicates an open sensor

Control display is flashing FS or F3 and then turns itself off

The error code F-S or F-5 is the closest error message I have found in information for your convection microwave oven. The F5 error code indicates that the damper switch has a sensing error. Be sure that the blower outlet is not blocked or restricted. I would recommend calling for service on something like this.

The F3 error code is an indication of a stuck key panel. We do not recommend that the customer remove the cover of their microwave oven. Even with the microwave oven unplugged, there are some components that hold a charge of 25.000 volts.

Note: General resolution for problem is based on information submitted with question. If problem persist, contact a service technician to Sears Repair Department 1-800-469-4663.

Hope this helps (remember to rate and comment this answer).

Have a samsung timesaver 850w it has just come up with an error message either 5 E or S E have tried turning it off and on but still cmes up. cant find my booklet

The letters S E indicates "systems error" usually caused by a short in the keypad membrane, the only solution is to have the keypad replaced to bring it back to normal.

What does error message F5 mean?

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing..

I'm not finding the one for for this model online.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If it's a convection model, F5 would be a damper door sensing error, which is usually a bad switch.

More info on switches is here.

One of the damper-related components, either the switch or motor or the damper door may be binding.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

If it's not a convection model, F5 is probably a sensor error.

On some models, "SENSOR ERROR" appears on the display when:
  • Using the sensor feature, the door was opened before steam could be detected. Do not open the door until stream is sensed and time is shown counting down on the display.
  • Steam was not detected in the maximum amount of time. Use Time Cook to heat for more time.
Here's some info from Samsung, which is the actual manufacturer of these ovens:

"Some models are equipped with a sensor that can automatically adjust the oven's heating time based on the amount of steam in the oven. If your microwave is displaying E1, E4, or E5, there may be an issue with the gas sensor. For an E1 error, press the Cancel button and check on the food.

"Other microwaves do not give specific error messages and just display "8888" on the LED. If you get this error message, your microwave needs service.

"If the message is either ERROR or E-6, it indicates a mechanical fault.

"For all error indications, including the SE or 5E error, try unplugging the microwave from the outlet for at least ten minutes and then plug it back in. If the error persists, the microwave may require service. Please use our ASC Locator to find your nearest Authorized Service Center."

F2 Error

F2 is a membrane switch error.

1. Unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
2. Replace membrane switch.
3. If problem persists, replace electronic control.
4. Replace all parts and panels before operating.
5. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.

The answer to your question is YES. I would venture to say the PART is - but not the labor. You would need to read your warranty to confirm.

Entire microwave is dead except LED screen which has a message -- E 5 -- Spoke to Samsung who told me to unplug it for 10 minutes - that dosn't do anything. This is a top of the line over the stove...

From the Samsung FAQ:

For all error indications, including the SE or 5E error, try unplugging the microwave from the outlet for at least ten minutes and then plug it back in. If the error persists, the microwave may require service. Please use our ASC Locater (sic) to find your nearest Authorzied Service Center.

It may be a failed sensor.
