Just read the charging instructions. Charge for 16-18 hours. If stored for more than 6 months recharge for the full 16 hours. Do not leave the lantern on after the battery has stopped, has overdischarging the battery can cause problems in recharging to a full charge. If this does happen, switch lantern to off and recharge for 40 hours.YES 40 hours. Only the LED is the only light to be used while charging. If you hane the other light on hi or low the battery does not charge.
Hope this helps

I thought I had the same problem. But it takes a VERY long time to recharge. I let it charge for 3 days with the electrical outlet charger and now the light works fine.
Can I ask please, what is the part number on your wall charger for this lantern? I thought I had been using the right one, but now it doesn't make the red charging light come on. The car charger works fine, but the one I thought was right is a Coleman brand part # A35W120400-13/1. Any help is appreciated... Thanks.
Can you over charge it?

I have the u-tube shaped fluorescent Coleman lamp(plastic). It worked great until one day, the tube stopped turning on. The nightlight feature worked still however, it wouldn’t fully charge (red light never turned green). I ordered a replacement tube to store , a new charger since I couldn’t locate the original one, and a battery. *Note: I shook the battery after removing it to hear it rattle a bit and that’s what made me realize the cell was broken. The extra parts ordered were still necessary since I need the charging cable and it never hurts to have an extra bulb. I connected the battery and turned it to on. It lit up. I turned it off and left it to charge. The battery was the problem. It’s always either that or the tube. These lanterns shouldn’t be dropped or tossed. And in order to keep the battery snug, I attached sticky furniture leg pads to it to cushion the battery. I hope this helps someone since it’s good to find answers online to these discontinued units.
