The red blue and green needs setting how do you get to it through the menu ? Dont have #6 on screen section. Weve done it before but forgot.

Projection tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around video.

Solution #2 - CRT FLUID FIX

Hello,

To get the code to enter on your remote to engage multipoint convergence adjustments, you need to contact the rca customer care for that, you get them your model number and they will get your code for you.

To process and save the adjustment made, follow the steps below;

1. Look through your manual. Your manual will always give you the most specific directions for your particular model. Look for an "adjusting convergence" or "set manual convergence" section.
2. Enter the menu on your TV. Use the remote control and bring up the menu.
3. Choose "Convergence." This may be under "Picture Settings," "Function" or "Advanced Options."
4. Select a color. You will have red, green and blue to choose from. Do each one, starting with red.
5. Press "Enter." A crosshair pattern will appear on your screen.
6. Adjust vertically. If there is a horizontal red line visible, press the up or down arrow keys (or channel up or down) to adjust the convergence until the line is superimposed on the horizontal-center line of the white crosshair.
7. Adjust horizontally. If there is a vertical red line visible, press left or right (or volume up or down) to adjust horizontally. Do this until the line is superimposed on the vertical line of the white crosshair.
8. Save settings. It is important to save your settings when you are done, instead of simply exiting the menu.
9. Repeat these steps for all colors.

You need to try to adjust it with the original remote in the TECH mode---you can save the adjustments there--

With the set on a video input with nothing connected:
hit the following buttons: 0 6 2 5 9 7 STATUS

The menu should appear with choices---green(do not adjust green) red to green, blue to green etc.

On that initial menu will be a item that says store or save. Depending on the remote you have once you select red to green (cursor on remote) a grid of lines should come up---on screen will be instruction--menu to adjust and or status to navigate.

When you have the red--to green adjusted hit the status button until it takes you back to the menu where Store or save is listed and right cursor on it.
This will store the adjustments.

Go back by selecting blue to green and adjust that also and when done go back and save it.

Turn the set off to exit the service mode and see what you have---IF THE SET DOES NOT RETAIN these adjustments made in the Tech menu something is wrong with its DCU--digital convergence unit---that stores the adjustments.
