Probably, there are no screws at all.
Look at where the edge of the keyboard is closest to the LCD screen.
Are there a few "tabs" (small "fingers") that extend from the keyboard, and go "under" some piece of the casing?
If so, then gently "pry" the keyboard, until those "tabs" go "over"
(not "under") that piece of the casing.

Now, gently lift the keyboard, a SMALL distance, and peek underneath the keyboard. Look for a "ribbon" cable that connects from the keyboard to the motherboard. Gently "undo" one of the ends of that ribbon-cable, so that the keyboard can fully be lifted away from the motherboard.

Reverse the process to connect that ribbon-cable to the new keyboard, and to "pry" those "fingers" into place "under" some part of the casing.

It doesn't look like you can replace a single key on the keyboard. You would need to replace the keyboard.

I've managed to damage a key on my cq60 keyboard. Apparently you can't buy the flimsy plastic fitting on its own so I've ordered a new keyboard. Where can I find instructions for replacing it?

There should be 3 Phillips screws on the bottom of the unit that secure the keyboard. Most HP laptops have a little keyboard symbol indicating the correct screw.

Here is a link to the service manual describing the process.

I have a compaq Presario C500 laptop and I need to replace the keyboard. Do you have any ideas on how to do this?

Hello,
The first thing you should do (if you are willing to take your laptop apart) is hunt for a good deal on a replacement keyboard. I was able to find one for ~17$ USD by using Google's shopping search:

http://www.google.com/products?q=compaq+C500+replacement+keyboard&oe=UTF-8&scoring=p

After you receive the keyboard, you could attempt to replace the old yourself using instructions found on the internet, but I was unable to find them. If and when I need to replace my keyboard, I would begin removing screws and try to figure out how to remove the keyboard while being as gentle as possible. Once you get your laptop taken apart, (I have opened a few up previously) the keyboard is usually connected to the motherboard by way of a thin ribbon-like connection which can be unclipped and slipped out of the connectors. The keyboard can then be swapped out with a new one.

I wish I could find some instructions for you, Compaq's site used to be so informative, but now I can't even get disassembly instructions. If you don't feel comfortable with ripping your laptop apart, you could try FixYa's repair directory to find a fair price for a repair:
http://www.fixya.com/ServiceCategories.aspx

You could skip all this and contact Compaq about replacing the keyboard, but that seems like an expensive solution to me.

Need to replace the keyboard on the Sony VGN-FS740

Most keyboards are removed by first removing the top bezel that starts above the keyboard and often wraps around the lid hinges. There are often screws in the back side of the hinges. this bezel most often snaps into place and will need to be popped loose after removal of the hinge screws. It can be a little scary the first time you do it. when this is removed the keyboard usually will have 3 or 4 screws in the top edge and tabs in the bottom edge. A ribbon cable will attach it to the motherboard.
The keyboard can be found here. http://www.partstore.com/Part/Sony/Sony/VGNFS740/Sony/Sony/147915321/New.aspx
