The refrigerator seems to be stuck on 50 def F. I have a separate thermometer inside the fridge so i know the temp is accurate. the freezer section is exactly at zero and seems to have no issues. we have had about 5 service calls and various changes only correct the issue for short periods of time. i want to know if a real fix exists and if anyone has encountered the same issue. thx

I would like to know the correct setting for the fridge and freezer

Setting? Most fridge/freezers have a crude system of setting the temp. and this seems to be dependent upon ambient. For a few pennies they could set the temp. accurately. However, but most peeps just turn it up/down until it's "about right"
The temp. for your freezer will depend upon the length of time that you wish to keep things. Check out freezer stars online. However they tend to have pre-set temp.
For the fridge, this will depend upon what you want to keep in it. but usually 4C is pretty good. You need to get a thermometer, put it in a glass of water (this irons out fluctuations). And check it after an hour. Adjust a little and check again. Repeat until happy.
Note that a cold room can prevent a fridge operating, so be aware of this.

Fridge showing incorrect temperature

The temperature sensor might need to be replaced, however, if the compressor is never shutting off, then the contents of the refrigerator will freeze and the compressor will "freeze up" too.

Buy a refrigerator/freezer thermometer to determine the actual temperature.

My refridgerator freezes the milk, How do i stop it from doing that? The temperature setting is in the normal range and the condensor coil is clean.

There are two setting on a fridge. One that sets the temp of the freezer and one that adjusts the temp of the fridge part. The fridge setting just adjusts the opening between the freezer and the fridge. So the fridge gets it's cool by stealing a little from the freezer. i'd get a fridge thermometer and set it it the fridge and see what the temp really is. The knobs in the fridge may not be accurate. Set the fridge and then move the thermometer over to the freezer and set that. Move back and forth until you get what you want. Usually the lower part of the fridge is a little colder then the top. However if you use the fridge a lot then every time you open the door the cold falls out and the fan will come on and start taking cold from the freezer. Another very cold spot is next to the vent where the cold air comes out from the freezer. Usually up top near the ice maker.

Not cooling properly

Hello,

First thing- set the controls at the mid range of their settings. Next, check the coils under the fridge to see if they are clogged with dust, etc. Next, using a couple stem thermometers, determine the temps in the freezer and fresh food sections. In the fresh food section, place a tall glass of water on a shelf in the middle, put the thermometer in and let it set for awhile in the fridge. Inside the fresh food section, look for the damper opening at the top of the wall in between the two sections. Wet the back of your fingers- can you feel air blowing through the damper opening? Inside the freezer section, look at the back wall- any frost buildup there.

Hope this help.....

My Maytag fridge is not working, but my freezer works fine. What do I do? The freezer is on the bottom, with the fridge being on top

Hi
Do you have any ice cream in the freezer? If it is soft than the freezer is also too warm. If you do not have icecream then you will need a thermometer to check freezer temps. Freezer needs to be 10 degrees F or colder down to -10. fridge should be 34-38... Sometimes freezer temps can seem cooler than they are with out a thermometer to test it. Also look for frosting up inside the freezer. Check that your door seals are in good condition. check that doors are closing completely.
Please let me know If I can help further.

Subzero 650 fridge temp says 34 but is really about 50

Is your thermometer in a glass of water? That's the way to get an accurate temperature reading. You may want to call an authorized servicer.

Samsung RB215BSSB refrigerator freezes up

I had a similar problem where my evaporator coil was freezing into a block of ice, which caused my fridge to warm up due to a lack of air flow. I fixed this by doing a few things. I replaced the circuit board ($100) which was easy to do. Unfortunately, this didn't fix my problem so I took the inner fridge cover off to view the evaporator/heater coil assembly. I checked my thermo fuse and found it to be open (failed). I ordered the thermo fuse and the thermistor and replaced them both. I then plugged the fridge back up and put a regular thermometer inside the fridge to get an accurate reading of inside temp. A few days now and everything looks good. The board, fuse, and thermistor were all pretty easy to replace.

Temp

I've had my Samsung RS267 LASH side by side for almost 2 years now and the coils froze recently. The temperatures displayed - relating to the refirgerator side - bounce around when the coils freeze. My freezer thank goodness is still working properly. The repairman indicated that the heating element for the refrigerator coils was bad. Unfortunately he had to order the whole unit (coils, heating element, etc.) since he couldn't replace just the one part. Samsung takes their time sending the parts - we've been waiting for 10 days now. The Samsung warranty covers the compressor, evaporator, condensor, drier and connecting tube for 5 years parts and labor so we should becovered. You might be covered as well - depending on when you purchased your refrigerator. I did purchase a separate extended warranty from Lowes when I bought the refrigerator and I'm glad I did. My extended warranty included $250 in food spoilage covering our food loss due to the breakdown. Hope this helps......

Refrigerator in garage

Yes it is very possible that exactly what you are describing can be happening. Also try a thermometer frozen in a cup of water to get more accurate temps. Also 33 in the fridge is very normal for the cold control set on max and the heater installed. Let me know the temps in the frz with the thermometer sensing product temp not air temp which fluctuates often.
