I purchased a brand new tub and hooked it up to a 10 gauge 50 ft extension cord to a dedicated plug. I get 120 volts into the box at the tub and it will not run. The dealer tells me it is the cord, is this possible. The light does not even go on.

Can I use a 25' extension cord for my Amana refrigerator

The 12/3 cord you mention is 12-gauge, that should be OK. The thing to avoid is power loss over distance which will make the motor work harder -- there are appliance cords which uses a stranded wire that reduce voltage loss due to induction.

Trying to driveRHEEM RAMB-036JAZ using a Honda eu2000 generator. How to hook this up?

You have to very careful powering up home appliances on portable generators due to back feed problems to incoming lines. I would recommend getting an experienced electrician to show and explain the problems with what you are considering. Many linemen have been shocked due to backfeed. The real way to perform this is to get the controller that is put on home generating systems such as generac type systems. These automatically isolate line supply from backup power from home generators, thereby eliminating shock hazards to linemen.
If prolonged shortage, you could disconnect the wires into the furnace and install an extension cord from the furnace to the 120 volt plug on the generator. Most fans are powered on gas furnace on 120 volt. Make sure your voltage needed on your furnace before attempting emergency power up. I have seen some furnaces power by 240 volt fan motors. If it is 240 volt then use the 240 plug wired correctly. PS when you get an electrician to help you with the wiring, check out the requirement to provide grounding, to lessen your shock hazard.
Hope this helps.

Dedicated 20 amp outlet

Ideally you should run the line straight from the circuit breaker out to your hot tub, but if the line running from your circuit breaker to the box you're using now is 20amp. you can absolutely connected to that. to be up to code it cannot be an open box it needs to be closed After you wire in your 70ft connection. (that's assuming the box that you're using is dedicated already to your hot tub) then the only difference would be is your using extra line and costing you tenths of a penny extra and electricity per hour.

How many amps is the 120/240 volt circuit? I can tell you how to split it into two 120 volt circuits. A twist loc cord end, a piece of four conductor cord, two electric boxes, two receptacles would be needed.
How many amps?

What gauge exstention cord do i use for a lincoln weld pak 100?

Hi:

Weld pak 100 is a 120 volt unit, you will be ok with a gage 12.
Most 120V commercial extensions out there are 14 gage, if you want to buy one, choose no longer than 25 ft long.
With a 12 gage you can go to 50 ft. with no problems.

If this was useful to you please vote. Thanks.

I was wondering how many watts the chainsaw would run off if it runs on 120 amps. i would like to use it out in the field but need to have the right amps.

I think you mean 120 volts.

Use a heavy guage extension cord and plug it into a GFCI if you have one outside your house. If no GFCI installed on house, buy a portable one at a hardware store.

The amp draw is on the nameplate on the saw. If it reads 10 amps, for example, you'll need a 16 guage extension cord. If it pulls more than 10 amps, you should use a 14 guage extension cord.

More info, let me know.

I JUST PURCHASED FOR $500 AND HAD TO RUN A NEW DEDICATED 12/2 WIRE AND A DOUBLE POLE 20 AMP BREAKER, SO I SHOULD HAVE THE REQUIRED 240 VOLTS WITH MINIMAL AMPERAGE DROP(ONLY 35' FROM MAIN BREAKER BOX TO NEW...

I think your issue is the earth ground no neutral. You should run that to a neutral wire. All my 220V ACs can do a neutral (white) and 2 power (black) wires, but they aren't connected to a ground wire...

Fridge and freezer not cooling any more. fan still running

it should never be plugged into any type of extension cord and also on its own dedicated circuit(nothing else on that circuit),you probably ruined the ptc overload relay mounted on the compressor(if your lucky) and not the compressor itself, this component is very inexpensive compared to a new compressor and labor to install it
