Hi. put in a mini-dv tape recorded on a sony z1 camera, the sony dsr-45p tape deck doesn't show any footage from the tape despite the camera had playback to show that footage was recorded. Using a windows xp PC, and Avid Media Composer 4 to try to capture video. Is there a solution, please? Thank you.

Sony do not provide a way to reset the hour counter in the DSR45P.
You could replace the NOVRAM IC but then you would have to do all the servo and equiliser alignments.

Try to playback with other tape recorded earlier from other camera or VTR .If other tapes are palying properly without any glitches then it might be the problem with this recording.

try a cleaning tape; if no luck, find a tech to perform a hand cleaning.

You need to use longer tapes. The DER-11 is a DVCAM deck which when recording, uses a faster tape speed then mini DV. Think of your older VCR's. They had SP, two hours, and EP or SLP, which would be six hours. The SP speed would give a better picture. DVCAM is more like an SP recording except digital and a lot better. More information is laid down on the tape.

You'll have to jump up to the full size DVCAM tapes in order to record the full hour.

Press the power butten several times while holding down the eject button. It will solve your problem and clear the error. If it not then there is something wrong with your reel motor or the circuitery which deals the reel motor. You must consult your nearby sony service center.

you need to get your dsr 45 ,vtr repaired as the rec.inhbit cable is broken ....this usually occurs when the flat cable is broken.

One of the units is not making good interchange in recording (CAMCORDER) or (PLAYBACK) DSR11 deck either buy or get a known good recording to isolate the bad unit. Camcorders are notorious for loss of interchange as the cassette compartment wears out the scissors jack elevator gets sloppy and changes the angle of attack on the drum and wellah a tape that only plays back in the camcorder.

The problem is that you have a son of a biscuit.

I think you may have misconfigured something because the problem is not in your DSR-11 try connecting it to a monitor and you will see the time stamp and picture as proof of what I am saying. The problem I think is that your Mac is not processing the time stamp correctly.
