I can view old photos on the screen fine but any new ones are black.

  • DinaBW Jun 24, 2008

The same thing is happening to me--I can look at old pictures, but the screen is black when I try to take new ones. It started out as black stipes on the occassional picture, then on every picture. Now I don't get anything.

  • sstratton Jul 07, 2008

Camera has worked great but recently started having problems with the display. If I push the display button SOMETIMES I will get a display and be able to take a photo. Otherwise, the screen is black. I can review old pics but can't take new ones.

Hi guys. If an LZ1/2 camera has a black screen, the most common problem is that the flex cable that comes from the CCD is loose in its connector. It is a simple problem to solve. I normally make shure the flex is fully inserted before locking the clip and then I use a small amount of contact adhesive to hold the clip on either side.

Hi there guys, if the screen is black and the camera takes black pictures, then you should look if you are getting a on screen display on camera mode. if you are then i would say one of two things, either the shutter is not opening or the ccd( electronic imaging device) is not functioning. to check the shutter you should look into the lenses centre part and check for movement from the shutter to see if it is opening.

LCD screen is black-cannot take photos

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see the following for further info and a simple fix that may help: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2009/05/simple-fix-for-stuck-shutter.html

My lcd screen is black

From what I can understand, if the camera is sill able take pictures but is not displaying any thing on the LCD, then it is a problem with the LCD or LCD cable connecting to rest of the camera or LCD driver on main board.

It can be as simple as a loose flexible PCB connection to the camera main board.

Black LCD screen/ not 'seeing' picture. Canon EOS 400D camera

Hi

The Digital Rebel XTi doesn't have 'live view' mode, you can't see what you're taking a picture of before you take the picture.

KODAK eASYSHARE c530 BLACK SCREEN DOES NOT TAKE PICTURE

You may still be able to take pictures with your black screened Kodak camera. This problem occurs in the line of Kodak EasyShare digital camera models.

When you turn on your Kodak EasyShare digital camera, turn off the LiveView function. Take a picture using the small-windowed viewfinder (this is not the LCD screen). Also, try zooming in and out.

After taking a picture, review the picture to see if the picture has been taken. Then turn on LiveView and occasionally the LCD screen should no longer be showing a black screen.

I OWN A CANON POWERSHOT SD1000. THE DISPLAY SCREEN IS BLACK WHEN I TRY TO TAKE A PICTURE. HOWEVER PLAYBACK IS CLEARLY VISIBLE. IT IS ONLY WHEN I ENDEAVOUR TO TAKE A NEW PICTURE THAT THE SCREEN IS TOTALLY...

If you take a picture using the optical viewfinder, does the camera actually record the picture? If so, you may have the LCD turned off in the camera mode (there are three options: standard, detailed, and off). With the camera in the shooting mode, press the "DISP" button and see if the LCD turns on.

Kodak C643 Screen black

One way out of the glare is to use the optical viewfinder (if your camera has one) to preview your image instead of the LCD. Another possibility is to buy a camera that has a backlit LCD.

Kodak CX7330. turns on but LCD screen is black and won't take a pic

It sounds like a bad connection on the ribbon cable of the LCD screen to the camera's motherboard. The fact that when you physically move the camera around and you can get the screen to then work, tells me something is loose inside.

Good luck!

Black pictures with blue lines running horrizontally through them

If you are able to see the picture in the LCD in black color and if there are no damages to the LCD -the LCD is fine. There is a back light panel attached behind the LCD which may be defective.Check for the loose connections. If you need spare parts contact me.

Pentax Optio 555 LCD screen blank problem

No I don't believe it is your shutter, more than likely it is a LCD Screen problem. I would suggest you take your camera back to the shop where you purchased the camera and have it serviced under warranty. I had a customer with an Optio 550 come in and it looked like every shot was taken through 'venetian blinds' and the problem was with the LCD Screen and the camera was sent back to Pentax and repaired under warranty.
