Basically the white dot is a dead pixel, this is common with LCD screens. You have nothing much to worry about unless the screen develops more dead pixels which could lead to a screen replacement although its highly unlikely.
HI, Are you sure that there is balck dot on the sreen. Check one more time is it any dust on the screen. Black spot Means pixel of the Lcd sreen is fault. There are thousands of pixels in an lcd screen. when any of the pixel or a group of pixels become faulty the black spot will appear. Its not possile to rectify the problem other than replacing the LCD panle if its avilable. The avilability of lcd screen is very rare. Ajin
Yes and NO your tv is a LED. To be exact it is a LED Backlight LCD TV. An LED-backlight LCD television is an LCD TV that uses LEDbacklighting instead of the CCFLs used in traditional LCD televisions. It is not a true LED display but is called "LED TV" by some manufacturers.[1] The use of LED backlighting has a dramatic impact, resulting in a thinner panel, less power consumption and heat dissipation, and a brighter display with better contrast levels. You can go to http://www.regza-asia.com/pdf/LEDTV/XL700/47XL700SPEC.pdf and look at the complete specs for your tv
I assume this is related to your LCD monitor.
I think you mean dead pixels. The LCD monitor has tiny pixel elements, one for each red, blue, green color and each one of these colored pixels are turnes on by a transistor. When a transistor fails then the colored pixel it controls does not light up. This is a dead pixel and it shows up as a tiny black dot.
If the screen displays a blue screen, a dead blue pixel will appear as a tiny black dot in the blue screen.
You normally would not notice a few dead pixels unless they are grouped together.
The white glow with no picture means that either the ribbon cable connection between the logic board and the monitor has come lose or dirty contacts, or the LCD Controller (T-CON) board (part of the LCD panel is not getting 5v or 12v depend on LCD panel from the logic board or the LCD controller board has blown fuse, see pictures here for guide (note pin on the LCD board with arrow mark is pin 1 and is the incoming DC power supply line): http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/LCD%20panel/?action=view¤t=DSCF0881.jpg
You may also want to look for bad caps (bulging top) on the logic board. There should be 5vdc feeding the logic board also.
can you take some pictures of the optics and send them to me ? this could be a circuit fault or a defective run from the manufacture, you will half to identifie whether it is optic or circuit related, try and place a piece of color filter opaque paper between the optics and try to notice the changes on the screen this may give you an indication which element may be faulted, or if it is electronic
