Help! I am working on a Ricoh Aficio 2027sp. sc544 error code then four seconds sc990 error code. I have attempted resetting in diagnostic mode but does'nt work. Also I have pulled and cleaned fuser unit. Continuity tested heat lamps and thermostats. Was going to order the two thermistors(three day wait). How do I test them? sc990 error- other fixes suggested to update the firmware. How?

you really can not refill the bottle but I would recommend two things. One find a fuser oil unit on ebay and order it quickly. Next hit the yellow clear modes button, then hit the numbers 1 0 7 , then hold the red clear stop button till the display panel changes. hit copy sp, select 7 data log. now use the page down arrows located in the middle of the disply till you see 7804 push it then go to #10 oil supply and hit execute. this will reset the oil counter and allow you to use the machine till you get the new unit.

I Expect this will be very expensive as it is not designed to be replaced as an entire assembly, but rather repaired as needed.

Fuser PM reset

1. Hold the 'up' and 'down' arrows together for 5 seconds or longer.

2. Release the arrow keys and press the 'enter' key.

3. Select '2. Engine' - Then go to option '7.'

4. Go to SP7804-016 (PM Counter Reset>Fuser) and execute. Shows results=OK

5. Turn the machine off and on.

All done.

SC997 is an application error that seems to like to show itself on occasion, it's not considered serious. It tends to show up when scanning, and it basically means the copier couldn't do what you just asked it too. A hard power cycle clears it and in many cases it doesn't come back. I would ask your tech the next time he's out to update the firmware. The problem with that though is that your particular model uses the older flash cards to flash firmware and most techs don't have them or know how to use them.
