My vizio will not turn on. It is not the outlet, because I switched the plug with my DVD player and the player works in both outlets. Is there any way I can reset my TV to make it turn on again?

It may either be your remote sensor on the front of the TV (http://cgi.ebay.com/VIZIO-VA19LHDTV10T-IR-REMOTE-SENSOR-715T3347-/170472611897?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b0f5a039)

You can test this by manually switching on the power vs using the remote.
Or it is this part that failed.

Replacement is pretty straightforward for the power supply, but the eye will require some soldering skills.

Would you happen to have any other suggestions? I've verified good power source and have replaced the power supply board. When I plug in power I do get the Vizio logo to light up, but then nothing, I have tried the remote controls as well as the side panel controls with no difference.
I'm wondering if there is a button combination to hold to perform some sort of factory reset similar to my Panasonic, or if there are other trouble shooting ideas short of testing components?
Thanks for anything that anyone can think of.

    -Roger

Advent DVD player won't turn off

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your Advent DVD player not turning off properly. Here are a few things you can try to resolve the issue:
  1. Check the remote control: Make sure the remote control is not accidentally turning on the DVD player. Try removing the batteries from the remote and test the power button on the DVD player again.
  2. Check the power cord: Make sure the power cord is securely plugged into the DVD player and the wall outlet. Also, check that the outlet is working properly by plugging in another device to see if it powers on.
  3. Unplug the DVD player: Try unplugging the DVD player from the wall outlet for a few minutes, then plug it back in and test the power button again.
  4. Try a soft reset: If the above steps don't work, you can try performing a soft reset on the DVD player. To do this, unplug the DVD player from the wall outlet, wait a minute, and then plug it back in. Press and hold the power button on the DVD player for about 10 seconds, then release it. The DVD player should turn off.
  5. Check for a hardware issue: If none of the above solutions work, the issue could be caused by a hardware problem with the DVD player. In this case, you may need to contact the manufacturer or a repair professional to have the DVD player serviced.
It's possible that one of the above solutions will resolve the issue, but if not, it's best to consult the DVD player's manual or contact the manufacturer

Panasonic DVD player s38 won't power on

  1. Check the power source: Make sure that the DVD player is properly plugged into a working outlet and that the outlet has power. Also, try using a different power outlet or power cord to rule out any issues with the outlet or power cord.
  2. Check the power switch: Make sure that the power switch on the DVD player is in the "on" position. If the switch is in the "off" position, the DVD player will not power on.
  3. Check the batteries: If the DVD player is battery-powered, make sure that the batteries are properly installed and have a sufficient charge.
  4. Check the fuse: The DVD player may have a fuse that protects the device from power surges. Check the user manual for instructions on how to check the fuse, and replace it if it's blown.
  5. Check for any physical damage: Inspect the device for any visible damage such as a broken power cord, bent power pins, or damage to the power switch.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's likely that there is a problem with the internal power supply or other components of the DVD player, and it's recommended to contact the manufacturer or a professional technician for repair.

My screen on the Vizio is blinking/flashing

Try changing the input device to something you are sure, works such as a DVD player. Look for any loose contact in power outlet, RC jack, socket, cable etc. Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

I have an e470vl vizio hdtv. i was plugging another component into the wall when the whole outlet sparked (biggest i have ever seen/felt). the tv and dvd player were connected to a power strip to that...

first of all just switch off everything then switch off the mains, open the mains socket as there might have been a loose connection to the terminals which you`ve got to tighten. also confifrm that the earthing is well connected before you switch on .
swtch on the mains then switch on your devices one by one, also confirm that the VGA cable is well connected to the display unit

Dvd recorder switching off then on

Try connecting the player directly to a different wall outlet and check. If the issue persists, try power resetting the player. Turn Off the player and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue persists, then the player requires service.

The player works when plugged into the car outlet or home outlet but i think the battery pack is not working. does the battery charge when plugged into the outlet? i'm not sure if it needs replaced or not...

Some portable DVD players will charge from a home outlet, but not a car outlet. You probably need a replacement, however.
Here's one: http://www.batteryspace.com/nimhbatterypack72v2200mah6xaaprewiredforcraigportabledvd.aspx
From the item description it looks like its just 6 rechargeable AA connected in series, so you could probably make one pretty easily if you wanted to.
