There is no way to do it without restoring. So if you want to do it the right way. Then here you go. that is not a problem follow the steps below. If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with
which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the
device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced
with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your
data will not be present Follow the steps that i have outlined below. If this does not completely help your situation
please let me know and i will be glad to assist you. According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the IPod by doing the
following: 1 If you can't unlock IPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to
manage its songs. . . Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of the iPod Nano. 2 Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on a Mac or PC computer. 3 Open the iTunes application by clicking on the Dock icon on a Mac or using the Start menu on a
PC. 4 Click on the name of your iPod Nano under the "Devices" list in the iTunes window. 5 Click on the "Sync" button to establish a connection between your iPod and the computer. 6 Click on the eject symbol next to your iPod's name after the syncing process has finished. 7 Unplug your iPod Nano. The device will be unlocked and you will be able to access all normal
features again. if that does not work you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please
note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod. If you want to change the primary computer that your IPod is associated with, do this: 1. Restore your iPod. WARNING: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data. 2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer. 3. Open iTunes and synchronize. Apple also notes that company "representatives cannot unlock an iPod if you forget your
combination. If you can't unlock your iPod and you don't have access to the primary computer,
your only option is to restore the IPod, which will erase all music and data." If you need further assistance please feel free to follow up with a comment and i will be here to
assist you. If this assisted you please feel free to rate the comment. thanks and have a great
day.- Midwest-tek

Is theres a number i can call for technical support for help to unlock my ipod nano

No Number but try this:
Screen Lock" is provided by the iPod nano, iPod (5th Gen), and subsequently released full-size iPod, iPod nano, and iPod touch models. Earlier iPods, and iPod shuffle models, do not offer this feature. In the Apple Support Site, Apple notes that the "Screen Lock" function:
Allows you to set a 4-digit combination to prevent someone else from using your iPod while it is not attached to a computer. When an iPod is locked, you must enter the combination to unlock the screen. This feature is different from the Hold switch in that the Hold switch only prevents iPod from turning on accidentally -- not keeping snoops out. Screen Lock only locks users out of the user interface. It does not encrypt data on your iPod. For example, if you use Screen Lock and then connect your iPod to a computer, you'll be able to manage music on your iPod with iTunes and access all data on it in disk mode (contacts, notes, and any other files you have stored on the iPod). This support document also provides additional information on locking and unlocking the iPod. According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the iPod by doing the following:
Connect your iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked. If you can't unlock iPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. 3. 4 gb nano locked and i forgot the combination

Ipod Lock
You can unlock iPod in one of two ways:
1...Enter the combination on iPod using the same controls you used to set the combination. If you do not enter the correct combination, the digits onscreen flash red. When you enter the combination correctly, iPod will unlock and return you to the last viewed screen.
2...Connect iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.
If you can’t unlock iPod using either of these methods, you can restore your iPod to factory settings. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to iPod.
If you want to change the primary computer that your iPod is associated with, do this:
1. Restore your iPod. Warning: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data.
2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer.
3. Open iTunes and synchronize.
Important: Apple representatives cannot unlock an iPod if you forget your combination.
If you can’t unlock your iPod and you don’t have access to the primary computer, your only option is to restore the iPod, which will erase all music and data.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

Apple iPod is Locked

There is only one way - and it will erase all your songs (applies to most models, not just Nano):

If you lock your iPod nano screen and can’t unlock it
Normally, if you can connect your iPod nano to the computer it is authorized to work with, your iPod nano automatically unlocks. If the computer authorized to work with your iPod nano is unavailable, you can connect iPod nano to another computer and use iPod Updater to restore your iPod software. See the next section for more information.
If you want to change the screen lock combination and you can’t remember the current combination, you must restore the iPod software, and then set a new combination.
Updating and Restoring iPod Software
You can use iPod Updater to update or restore your iPod software. Apple periodically
updates iPod software to improve performance or add features. It is recommended that
you update your iPod nano to use the latest software. You can also restore the software,
which puts iPod nano back in its original state.
- If you choose to update, the software is updated, but your settings and songs are not
affected.
- If you choose to restore, all data is erased from your iPod nano, including songs, files,
contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All iPod nano settings are
restored to their original state.
To update or restore iPod nano with the latest software:
1 Go to www.apple.com/support/ipod and download the latest iPod Update. The update
has the latest software for all models of iPod.
2 Double-click the software installation file and follow the onscreen instructions to install
the iPod update.
3 Connect iPod nano to your computer and open iTunes. The iPod Updater application
opens.
If you’re using a Windows PC and the iPod Updater application doesn’t open
automatically, you can find the updater by choosing Start > All Programs > iPod.
4 Follow the onscreen instructions to update or restore iPod software.
If you use the iPod Updater application and it doesn’t recognize that iPod nano is
connected to your computer, reset iPod nano (see page 45).
If you want to restore iPod software and you don’t have an Internet connection, you
can use the iPod Updater application that was installed on your computer when you
installed the software from the iPod CD.

How do I Unlock Ipod screen if I forgot the 4 digit password?

See these instructions for unlocking the iPod Screen Lock if you don't know the combination.

  1. You can connect it to the first computer it was every synced with (this should be your friend's computer?) Open iTunes, then disconnect the iPod. It should now be unlocked.
  2. If you can't do that, then you can restore the iPod to factory default settings. Note that this will erase all music and data from the iPod, along with the Screen Lock password.
