Hi!

integrated microphone really wont work on xp. it's either there's njo choice for us or they are still working on it (which i don't believe). Sorry but the system was designed for Windows Vista that's why, there's no driver designated for XP.

Thanks,
Karlox™ :)

Skype not working

Sir,

Click this link for more information........

http://support.skype.com/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=35

Also Check........

On a PC with external speakers and also a headset with microphone. Windows XP is configured so that standard audio are external speakers and standard microphone is the headset. Skype is configured to use the headset for audio in and out.

This way one can listen to sound from the PC and from MP3 players through external speakers and if there is a call to make or take, this is going through the headset.

But now there is the problem that the noise level for the headset is too low. Increasing volume has no effect on the headset, it only affects the external speaker's volume.

Now the solution: Going to the control panel and opening the sound setting, go to the audio tab. The external speakers are selected as default. Just temporarily select the headset and then click on volume just below. You can now set the volume for the headset, click OK and click cancel (!!!) on the sound control dialog box. This way the external speakers remain as default output.

Skype-->Tools -> Options -->Sound Devices-->audio device/USB/etc Audio Device (do NOT use windows default device)
You can also tick the ring pc speaker check box as this is a good backup to alert you even
if the main speakers are off or turned down.

Windows:
Start-->Control panel-->Sound and Audio devices
On the audio tab set the default playback device to your main soundcard(AC97/Audio-chip/add-on-adapter), etc.
Your installed audio device must be present there.
If not, reinstall audio device

thanks
good luck

Microphone

Sorry but only the latest models have a built-in microphone. I've even searched the tech manual for you without success. You;ll have to buy an external mike and plug it into the microphone jack.

Cs70 headset with a Cisco 7975 phone, is there a way to not have the phone ring in the headset ?

This works if you're using the HL10 handset lifter with your CS70. The HL10 has a built-in microphone to pick up the vibrations from the ringing of the phone speaker under the handset. The HL10 came with an accessory package that has an extra round microphone on a cord to help the lifter if the telephone speaker is located in an out-of-reach location on the phone. You take that external microphone, plug it into a jack on the back of the HL10 and let it hang free making sure it's not resting on any surface. That should eliminate any ringing in your headset.

Good luck from Headsets Direct!

My acer aspire 4720z mic is not working but the output audio is ok

Try plugging in an external microphone. If it works, then your internal microphone has failed. If the external microphone also doesn't work, then try reloading the Realtek Audio Driver. There is also the possibility if you have previously used an external microphone, that the jack's connections have become unreliable such that the system thinks that an external microphone is still connected after it has been unplugged. With this situation, plugging an external microphone back in will obviously work.

Hi, Internal microphone on my acer aspire 8920g which originally has vista is not working now on windows 7. To be honest I didn't pay attention while I had vista and can't now remember if it worked at...

I suggest you go into control panel and device manager and see if your internal mic is listed there. If it is right click on it and see if it is selected as your default mic. I believe it may be un-selected. If that doesn't work I would just use the external mic with Skype as the internal mics with most laptops aren't that good anyway.

How do you use an external microphone with the imac G5, and what type of microphone isd needed?

The iMac G5 does not have a microphone in jack, only a line in jack. The signal levels are generally not compatible.
You can buy a USB-based microphone (or headset), or you can buy a preamp unit such as this iMic.

Hi,
Look at the front and sides of the laptop for the headphone and microphone jack ports.
