SOURCE: dial continuously turning
hiya
to reset the dial, switch the power off, then turn the dial to a dot on the selection then switch the power on, the light should flash about 3-4 times this should be it reset.
for the machine to start doing this mid cyle though usually indicates something is wrong, i would hazard a guess at the pump filter is blocked and the mahine was trying to drain at the time it started clicking.
the best thing to do is empty the machine manually by placing the outlet hose into a bucket or large dish, once empty remove the plastic kick plate on the bottom of the machine and behind this you will find the filter.
before you unscrew the filter you will need to place some towels or old cloths on the floor as there will still be water left in the pipes, remove filter and any foreign objects (possibly coins, hair clips etc) and then screw back in. job done.
hope this helps

hello chels_z
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,
You said, your Ariston Margherita 2000 AB95 Sounds like a jet plane when spinning
And asked me Is it worth fixing?
That depends how old the unit is?
Let me know what the results are.
Here is an interesting report I just read!
Repair or replace?
When to pull the plug on your old washer
Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems
in the owner's manual.
Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model?
The answer depends mostly on the age of your washer,
how much you bought it for,and the cost of the repair.
Follow these guidelines:
When a repair makes sense.
If your washer is under warranty or less than four years old ,
paying for a repair makes sense.
Note that washers under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician;
readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.
When a repair might be a wise choice.
If your washer is out of warranty and is four to seven years old,
it might make sense to pay for a repair. Customers generally pay $100 to $200 for a repair.
But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage,
given that today's models have added features.
Higher energy efficiency is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008,
are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent
more efficient than those built before 1993.
When it pays to replace.
The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new washer.
Data also shows that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive washer
eight or more years old.
Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent
of washers you replace are likely to end up in a landfill.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help!

Thank You, HUUUM

i had the same problem. try emptying the little chamber at the bottome front of maching. there might be something in there. then have a look at the little grey fan thing. give it a push. if it springs back it is working if not it is broke. tip the machine on its side and undown the filter part. ordr this section online. it is easy to replace. i done it myself. To start ensure that machine is well balanced, and that the load is well distributed inside the drum.
If the problem is not balancing, then the most common is a broken drum bearing spider or a bad drum bearing. A symptom of drum bearing problems is the drum having excessive play when you spin by hand.
Also struts and springs must be checked.

According to the instruction book - it appears the machine has been stopped mid cycle then re-started.
Switch machine off, turn control knob to a solid circle symbol (they are after every set cycle). Switch machine back on and lights will flash and program is reset. You can then select wash cycle as normal.
