HUH? You program autodial for the SYSTEM from a SYSTEM phone in SYSTEM programming. You program the "auto dial" buttons, the ones on the right side of your phone from the phone by pressing PROGRAM one of the 12 buttons and dialing "9" plus the number SAVE.

If you are trying to program one of the left side buttons for autodial (bad move) then you dial "29" first.

How do I store a number for autodial at a later date?

Autodial? You're going to use one of the 8 buttons for autodial or are you trying to put system speed dialing in? The phone buttons are easy if you dial "9" to get an outside line. You press PROGRAM a button, and dial 29 plus your number and STORE.

Now, obscurely, you can program one of the 8 buttons to SAVE a number. Thats done by PROGRAM the button 5 STORE. When you dial a number that you want to save, you press Autodial and SAVE (the button you programmed) and it will save that number under the button.
Now, grab a line and press the SAVE button and it will dial your saved number.

Last, if you're not totally bored, you can store 10 Personal speed dial numbers on your phone. They program by 2* (0-9) number # and are dialed by pressing # (0-9).

Yeah. BTW this is an instruction set for a TA-624, common for the type of phone you have. I think it applies to most of the TA series KSU's.

How do I program a phone number to the one touch buttons on a Panasonic KX-T7730 phone?

It depends on what you get when you dial "9" on the intercom. If you get an outside line, then the 12 right side buttons on your phone can be programmed for one touch dialing like this:
On an idle phone, press PROGRAM a button and dial 9 plus the number and STORE. You can program more than one button by just pressing button numbers and STORE. Exit programming by picking up the handset and dropping it back down.

If you want a specific line, you may be able to dial the specific 8x code to access a line directly, or you can go into system programming and delete the open lines in program 400. Disabling would be the best, because if your 8x line is busy, you can't make the call with the auto dial button.

From the Switcboard / Main telephone ( usually ext 101, 10 or 9 ) with the handset on the cradle press Program * # followed by the system password ( default is 1234). Now press 001 and then SP-PHONE. Panasonic KX-T7730- assigning speed dialing/one touch. I tried to press prog button and the one touch button..but it gives me an error message "not stored". How to solve this? I have 12 buttons to assign...

It says "Not Stored" because you haven't stored anything in it. There are 12 buttons on the left side with lights and 12 buttons for feature dialing on the right. If you want to monitor extensions, the buttons on the left are the ones to use. If you want to store speed dial numbers and feature codes use the ones on the right.

Left button programming. Press PROGRAM and the button. For extensions, dial 1+ext and STORE. For CO's, press 0+line number, for inside codes press 2+code, for outside number press 2+9+number, all followed by STORE.

Right button programming. For inside codes dial the code, for outside number press 9+number followed by STORE.

Note that you could also dial "8x" or "80x" in place of "9" for specific line access. Also, you can store extension speed dial numbers on the right, you just won't get a light indication when they're busy.

Speed dial access

It's easier if you have access to the database to put in names with the numbers, but in the simplest sense, you can take a piece of paper, write down locations, and start entering numbers.

PROG

They are added in sytsem speed dial from the first extension or one designated as the manager's phone. PROG **1234 gets you into programming and 001 is the system speed dial area. With a combination of NEXT's and ENTER, you can be looking at SD 000 (ie PROG **1234 NEXT NEXT ENTER NEXT) and you're ready to enter a speed dial in bin 000. The complete number starts with an access code (9) plus the number as you would dial it. For example 918005551212 ENTER puts that number in bin 000. NEXT will step to 001.

USE

Press INTERCOM or select a line and press AUTODIAL and dial the 3 digit code. If your installer was lazy, you will have a problem as "9" selects the highest line in a trunk group, one that you might not have. In that case, he'll either have to program the system properly, or you will always have to pre-select a line to use speed dial.

Notice that this is just hte instructions for SYSTEM speed dial. I guessed that it was what you're looking for. Personal speed dial is a different set of instructions and it could be either under a button or in your 10 or 100 number personal directory (so that's where the 2 digit SD's went :-))

Anyway, if you need those instructions and can't find them in the user manual, please post back.

KX-T7730 - seems locked into a program

You have a couple of answers, depending on which phone system the phone is connected to.

Pres PROGRAM and dial 1. If the display says PREF. OUT then dial 1 and press STORE then PROG. You now have no PREFERENCE so you get the intercom by default. You get it back or change it by PROG 12 for idle line, or 13x (1-8) for a specific line.

If you didn't get anything with those numbers, try PROG 19 STORE. Then the AUTO ANS key will step you through the choices. That's used on TDA TDE and TAW boxes.

Change Pref Out to Idle

Since the phone is stupid, you really need to say what cabinet you have. Preference out in my system is reach by dialing program 19 and STORE then AUTO ANS changes the mode and STORE saves it. YMMV

As far as button mapping. press PROG and the CO button on the lower left. If the display doesn't say CO-1 or Single Line 001, then you can dial 0 1 to make it so. It would be best to do this on a working phone and write down what the buttons are from bottom to top, then go to your phone and duplicate it.

In programming 0 is CO lines, 1 is extensions, 2 is speed dial, and there are a whole raft of codes for VTR, CID Log, and 2 Way VM features that are in the user guide.
