Made a relatively smooth transition from Office 2003 to 2010, without stopping at 2007. Understandably, although painful, it has disabled my 2003 programs. However, Outlook no longer supports the hundreds of animations I had saved and used regularly in my e-mail files. Further, Every calendar or memo alert shows up double in the reminders function, and dismissing one dismisses both.

You should had upgraded to 07 first and then to 2010. this way your office profile is upgraded correctly, not saying you did it wrong.

for the calendar issues, do yo have 2 datafiles? .pst? if you have 2 psts then thats why its showing up twice.

SOURCE: Microsoft Office Outlook

Run Outlook from a command line with the /cleanprofile switch appended to the command.

To find the correct command line, right click on a shortcut for Outlook and go to Properties. Copy the information in the Target field and Paste it to the command line. If there is already a command option, remove it and add /cleanprofile after the closing quotation mark. (Add a space before /cleanprofile)

For example, go to Start: Run. . and enter something like "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE" /cleanprofile .

Then add a new profile. Be sure to check the check box for "Set as default profile". Note: You cannot see this option unless you click on the "Options >>" button.

This should fix the problem.

SOURCE: sent mail is no longer being saved in sent folder after upgrading

"An extension failed to initialize. Can't open file: extend.dat. The file may not exist, you may not have permission to open it, or it may be open in another program. Right-click the folder that contains the file, and then click Properties to check your permissions for the folder. You don't have appropriate permissions to perform this operation."
Seeing that the user was an administrator it seemed more complicated than a permission problem. What is the extend.dat file? It is a file used to cache extensions built for outlook. Seeing that our users use no extensions, the problem with the file could be fixed by either deleting it or renaming it.
If hidden files and folders are not visible you will have to set your explorer window to view those types of files. If you know how to show hidden files skip "Viewing Hidden Files".
Viewing Hidden Files: To view folders and files that are hidden, from my computer, click tools and then folder options. Click the view tab at the top of the window. Scroll down to the option Hidden files and folders. Click the option that says show hidden files and folders. Then click OK.
The Fix: Make sure outlook is closed and not running. If you are viewing hidden files and folders, use windows explorer to go to documents and settings, then the folder of the user with the error. Next click Local Settings, then Application Data, then Microsoft, and finally click and go into the outlook folder. There is where you will find extend.dat. Now from here rename the file from extend.dat to extendOld. Restart outlook and send someone an email.

Transition from Office 2003 to Office 2007 or 2010

Forget everything you ever knew about Office 2003 and start from scratch. Look at it as a brand new piece of software. This will make learning the new Office easier. Also, go to the Microsoft site (www.microsoft.com) and use some of their free learning modules. These are great visual learning tools.

I want to use the power point with animation for presentations.

If you are using MS Office 2007, then I assume you are already familiar with the ribbons and tabs included. To use animations for your presentations, you can apply for one or all slides. Also you apply animation to certain objects on a specific slide.

On the top, you will find the "Animations" tab. You will find pre-set transitions for the slide.

You can apply to a particular slide, or to all slides by click on "Apply to all" button found next to the transitions on the right-side. You can also select the speed and sound of the transition. On the left-side of the pre-set transitions, you will see the "Animations" settings group.

If you click, for example a text box, The "Animate" feature will be enabled and you can select the animation you want, i.e. fade, wipe, fly in, etc.

I have added a snapshot of the drawing tool at the end of this post.

Rank, if you found this solution helpful. If you need more information.

Office Outlook 2007 crashing everytime

Hey,

I was having the same problem with Outlook 2007 on my Laptop, looked for all the possible resolutions but no Clue..
Then I tried to check the addins I was using in Outlook 2007, I found that after disabling the unnecessary addins from Regsitry I am able to use outlook 2007 without any issues.

For Disabling the outlook addisn you have to go to:
Start> Run> Type Regedit> Hit Entre> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>MICROSOFT>OFFICE> OUTLOOK>ADDINS there you will find all the Addins, Please right click on the onw which is not required to go to modify & change the value to 0.
It will disable the Addins from Registry. we can enable the Addin when ever required.

Close & re launch your Outlook.

Hope this will help you in resolving the issue related to the outlook crashing.

Cheers!!!!

Same problem for me!

There is a service running or startup item that is interfering with Office..
Try typing msconfig in the start command and disable items one at a time to see the culprit.
Before diabling anything that might be important google the startup item and see if it is needed.

Outlook 2007 Windows Vista will not allow hyperinks

Hello,

You might find the answer to your question here:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA012299621033.aspx

In short:

Stop disabling links and functionality in all messages

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. On the Preferences tab, under E-mail, click Junk E-mail.
3. Clear the Disable links and other functionality in phishing messages (recommended) check box.

Note If you decide to select this check box later, Outlook will disable all the links in messages that were evaluated as suspicious by the Junk E-mail Filter, and you will receive warnings about suspicious links.

Also read the complete topic. There is some interesting stuff inside..

Problem opening Access Database-upgrade from Access 2003 to 2007

if the form "products" really exists, then your office 2007 security settings are not allowing to load macros. Try the following settings:-

Office 2007 has some security settings disabled by default to prevent any harm to your system.

go to trustcenter settings(click the office button at the top left of the office 2007 screen then click Access options, then select Trustcenter, then click trustcenter settings.)
In trustcenter settings, select message bar then select "Show the message bar in all applications when content is blocked" radio button.

Then from macro settings ,make sure to select "Disable all macros with notification" . Click ok twice to close the settings windows and try opening the file again.

Good Luck
