Excel running on a 32 bit PC and using a 32 bit operating system can only address 2 Gb of RAM. If your machine has a 64 bit processor (these were being shipped over 5 years ago) it will be possible to install a 64 bit operating system such as Windows XP 64 bit or Windows 7 64 bit. It has been claimed that an Excel 2010 spreadsheet, running on a 64 bit machine and using Windows 7 64 bit, was able to load and use a database with 100 million records.

If you are unable to do this then I suggest that you examine what your machine is running at the same time as your spreadsheet and if any part of the spreadsheet can be off-loaded. By the latter I mean can any of it transferred to another Excel file?

Are you using any links on your spreadsheet, if so can the links be converted into data, e.g. a link to a lookuptable could be converted to data (copy, paste-special, value) and this remove a significant amount of processing load.

Can not use office program

I doubt you computer had no Microsoft Applications installed on it or maybe these applications were hided somewhere else in the computer's system. To check if you have it or not please go Start Menu and type in the Run winword for Microsoft Word, mspub for Publisher, mspowerpnt for Powerpoint, excel for Excel, etc. Or go to Start Menu then hit All Program and look for the folder Microsoft Office.

I am unable to open any Microsoft Office 2007 applications

Hi,
do you have other applications running in the background? Close them down, also the Internet explorer. Check in the taskmanager that you have no other application running and try to start the application again.
Check the available space on your drive c:
Is Microsoft Office installed on a server then the server maybe running out of space and you should report this to the server administrator.

Not enough memory to run the program.

Hi,

Thanks for using FixYa!

How much RAM (memory) do you have? Microsoft Office uses alot of memory, especially if the office startup tray is enabled. You probably need to add more memory to your computer or you need to disable background applications.I hope this helps.
Good luck with your homework.

Have a nice day

Before occuring this problem I was run Scan DIsk & Defregment also after that I am facing this message "Microsoft Excel for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the...

left click start, left click control panel, left click add/remove programs, locate microsoft office highlight it and left click change, once the window opens click on repair. This should perform a repair on your Microsoft Office Application. Restart the computer if necessary, also be sure to pull down any Windows Updates left click start, left click Windows Updates, there could very well be an update your Excel application is missing. The Microsoft Updates have been known to resolve some of the known issues with office applications.

I am using office xp. my ms office applications are closing automatically. even before i complete by excel work it closed without saving. i have a cd for ms office 2007 which i now want to install but the...

Is that CD an upgrade version? It will work only with a previously installed Office 2003, maybe. This one is cheaper. The full install version doesn't upgrade the previous one and does install on a PC which never had an Office.
So, try uninstalling the previous Office and then install. If it doesn't install, then buy a full version of 2007.
