Do you have a manual?
I checked the online manual available on the Singer site for your model and the part you mention is called a Horizontal spool pin and holder.
If you would like a copy of the manual go to the Singer site:
http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html
Type in 5050 and click on Search.
On the next page click on Free download!
Hope this helps!

How to thread singer sewing machine 5810

First, raise the needle (and the thread-take up lever) with the hand wheel; always turn this wheel towards you. If the needle doesn't go up, your machine may be in bobbin winding mode. Press the hand wheel disc on the side opposite the indent. Raise the pressure foot using the lifter behind the needle and pressure foot.

Now place the spool on the spool pin and add the spool pin cap. Now you work the thread from right to left and go down, up and down again. Lead the thread to the thread guide at the back of the machine and snap the thread into the guide. Bring the thread forward and with one hand bring the thread under the guide and through the slot. Bring the thread down and around the tension. Hold the spool lightly and pull up the thread to lift the spring. That will let the thread go under the thread guard. Guide the thread into the take-up lever by placing the thread over the top of the lever and sliding it up into the notch. Bring the thread down through the next two thread guides; the last one is at the needle clamp. Then thread the needle from front to back.

Most Singer manuals are available here: https://www.singer.com/support . The current link to the manual for the 5810 is https://res.cloudinary.com/singer-sewing/image/upload/fl_attachment/Singer-Website-Library/outdated_product/SINGER_5806_5808__5810__6620_and_8220_Sewing_Machines.pdf . See page 15 for the start of the threading steps.

I hope this helps. Earlier pages in the manual cover winding and inserting the bobbin.

How to wind a bobbin singer merrit 3130

To wind a bobbin on the 3130, first raise the presser foot and bring the needle to the highest point in its travel cycle. Next hold the outside of the hand wheel with one hand. While holding the outside of the hand wheel, turn the knob inside the hand wheel towards yourself (counter-clockwise if you face the right side of the sewing machine). Make sure that the spool of thread is on the spool pin with the spool's thread retaining notch to the right. Put the appropriate spool holder on the spool pin. Snap the thread into the thread guide in to the left of the spool holder. Lift the top cover to expose the bobbin winding mechanism. Snap the thread into the bobbin winder tension disc by wrapping it around the front of the disc and then bringing it back towards the bobbin winding spindle. The bobbin winder tension disc is to the left of the top cover. Put the thread through the hole in the bobbin from the center of the bobbin. Keep the hole up and put the bobbin on the spindle. Push the spindle to the right. Hold the thread above the bobbin and start the machine. After a few rotations, you can let go and cut this part of thread. Restart the sewing machine and let it finish winding the bobbin. Once the bobbin is full, move the spindle to the left and remove the bobbin from the spindle. Cut the spool thread to release the bobbin to put it in the bobbin case. Hold the hand wheel and turn the inner knob away from yourself.

Singer has most of their manuals available here: https://www.singer.com/support . Free singer 2430 manual

Singer indicates that the 2430 to the Merritt 2404. The Merritt 2404 manual is available on the Singer support site: https://www.singer.com/support . The current link to this manual is https://www.singer.com/sites/default/files/product_manual/9bb8bc029ac33374a16f6ef37fdb37c14c7a8356_0.pdf . To wind the bobbin, make sure that the needle is up and lift the presser foot. Hold the hand wheel with one hand and keep it from moving. With the other hand, loosen the knob in the center of the hand wheel by turning the knob towards you. If the thread is not already on the spool pin, place it on the spool pin with the thread retaining slit to the right. Put the spool holder on the spool pin so that it holds the spool firmly.

Next snap the thread through the thread guide post and open the top cover. (If you have been sewing with the spool, unthread the upper thread back to the guide post.) Wrap the thread the bobbin tension disc going clockwise as you look at the top of the disc. (Bring the thread in front of the machine as you move to the left; then bring around to the back as you bring it to the bobbin winder.) Bring the thread up through the hole in the bobbin. Place the bobbin on the spindle with the hole up. Move the bobbin winder to the right. Hold onto the thread above the bobbin while you start winding the bobbin. After a few turns are on the bobbin, you can let go. After the bobbin is full (or full enough for your task), clip the thread and remove the bobbin. Move the bobbin winder to the left. Tighten the knob in the hand wheel by turning it away from you while holding the hand wheel.

I hope this helps.

How do I thread my sewing machine model number 2235

First make sure that the needle is at the highest position (with the needle up button or the hand wheel) and lift the presser foot. Turn off the sewing machine. For the upper thread, place the spool on the spool pin and secure it with the spool cap. Leave the cap a bit loose (1/16" from the spool). Bring the thread to the left. While holding the thread in one hand, use a finger on your other hand to press the thread into the thread guide. Bring the thread forward and straight down the express thread path. Feed the thread into the needle thread guide. Pass the thread through the needle eye from front to back.

For the bobbin thread, make sure that the bobbin rotates counter-clockwise. Hold the bobbin down as you pull the thread into and through the guides from near the front of the bobbin area to the left side. For most threads, cut the thread on the thread cutter after feeding the thread into that area.

Singer has the manual for the White 2235 on their support site: https://www.singer.com/support . The direct link to the manual is https://www.singer.com/sites/default/files/product_manual/1116_white-1780%2C-2235-x.pdf . See page 16 (page 20 of the PDF) for the upper threading directions and pictures. The bobbin threading pattern is on page 14.

I hope this helps.

How to wind bobbin on model 4411

Do you mean the Singer 4411 Heavy Duty sewing machine? If so,
first place the spool on the spool pin with an appropriate sized spool holder, if you are starting the project. Snap the thread into the thread guide to the left of the of the spool pin. Wrap the thread clockwise around the bobbin winder tension discs (slightly to the left and forward of the thread guide). Bring thread towards the bobbin spindle. Thread the bobbin (put the thread through the hole in the bobbin). Place the bobbin on the spindle with the hole up. Move the bobbin spindle to the right. Hold onto the thread above the bobbin and step on the foot control pedal. When the bobbin finishes winding the thread, cut the thread at the top of the bobbin and the incoming thread from the spool. Move the bobbin spindle to the left and remove the bobbin. If you have already threaded the machine for sewing, you will need to remove it from the various guides and tension discs that are used in sewing. Then after winding the bobbin, re-thread the top thread.

The directions to wind the bobbin are in the manual on page 12 (page 19 of the PDF). You can find many Singer manuals at the Singer support page: https://www.singer.com/support . The 4411 support page is https://www.singer.com/search/support?lp=support&title=4411 . The current link to the manual is https://www.singer.com/sites/default/files/product_manual/SINGER%204411%20Heavy%20Duty%20Sewing%20Machine.pdf .

I hope this helps.

How to thread on a singer 4411. Thank you

To thread the upper thread, make sure that the needle bar is fully up, using the hand wheel. Put the thread spool on the spool pin and secure it with the spool holder. Use the end of the spool holder that is closest to the spool size. Bring the thread through first guide to the left of the spool holder. Slide it past and behind the guide before pulling it into the guide. Then bring the thread to the pre-tension spring. Similarly, the thread goes behind the spring and then comes forward. Next bring the thread down through the channel and up through the adjacent one further to the left. It helps to hold the thread between the spool and the thread guide. Once you bring the thread up through the second channel bring it from right to left through the slotted eye of the take-up lever. Bring the thread down and through the horizontal thread guide, the thin guide clamp needle and to the needle. Thread the needle from front to back.

The manuals for most Singer sewing machines are available from the manufacturer's site: http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals . The direct link to the manual for the 4411 is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/1230_4411_heavy_duty_esf.pdf . See page page 16 (page 23 of the PDF) for pictures of the guides.

I hope this helps.

Singer sewingmachine how to stop thread from breaking on the top

Thread breakage is often caused by a burr on the needle. Whenever i have a problem with thread breakage, I unthread the machine, replace the needle, and rethread.
Sometimes thread will wrap around the spool pin, so I use the upright spool pin or use a mug or water glass to hold the spool upright behind the machine.

Threading the bobbin

Threading the bobbin - winding thread onto the bobbin.

Position the new empty bobbin onto the vertical bobbin rod next to the end wheel. Click the rod to the right to engage drive. Hold the outer end wheel with left hand, and rotate the inner wheel anticlockwise by about a 1/2 turn (it stops) this removes drive from the foot and needle mechanism.

From a spool of thread on the top, thread to a loop/post on the left on the top. Then back to the bobbin you want to wind. Thread through a hole from the inside-out. Hold the thread vertically above the bobbin while you depress the footswitch to start winding. Let go when it's turned a few times.

Move bobbin shaft left, and tighten end wheel after winding enough.

Fitting bobbin-

Move footplate towards you, insert bobbin in hole so that bobbin rotates anticlockwise when thread is pulled, then pull thread into the fine notch towards you. After this position thread away from you, and slide the footplate closed.

To start / load thread. Hold the end 3" of the thread through the needle behind the sewing foot. hand crank towards you to sew first stitch in air. This should retrieve the lower thread - which you can catch with a handy pair of scissors. Then pull both threads rearwards - ready to sew.
