Hi, when I returned home from work the other day I found that my Acer LCD Monitor will now only display the word "acer" in green when powered on. Normally it would display this logo for a few seconds, then move to "No Signal" until I powered on my computer. Then, it would display the image from the computer as it should and function perfectly.
However, it will now only display this green acer logo and never go beyond this point, whether it is or is not connected to a computer (using either vga or dvi connection) and whether the computer is turned on or turned off. It simply displays the logo then does not attempt to receive a signal from it's connected computer.
Could this be a result of a power outage at my house while I was at work? What can I do to make my monitor function once again?
You are correct, it could be a power surge that has caused it.
Try this..
Unplug the monitor from the wall.
Remove all the video connections at the monitor end.
Wait 10 minutes then plug the monitor back into the wall (do not connect the video leads)
Turn it on and see if it goes past the ACER logo now. If so, replace the video cables and try the computer.
If not, then one of these will apply and a tech will be required..
Number 2 is the most likely cause with an Acer monitor though. Any local tech will be able to correct it fairly cheaply, but phone around for quotes..they can vary a lot.
