Acer LCD Monitor only displays "acer" logo

Hi, when I returned home from work the other day I found that my Acer LCD Monitor will now only display the word "acer" in green when powered on. Normally it would display this logo for a few seconds, then move to "No Signal" until I powered on my computer. Then, it would display the image from the computer as it should and function perfectly.

However, it will now only display this green acer logo and never go beyond this point, whether it is or is not connected to a computer (using either vga or dvi connection) and whether the computer is turned on or turned off. It simply displays the logo then does not attempt to receive a signal from it's connected computer.

Could this be a result of a power outage at my house while I was at work? What can I do to make my monitor function once again?

You are correct, it could be a power surge that has caused it.

Try this..
Unplug the monitor from the wall.
Remove all the video connections at the monitor end.
Wait 10 minutes then plug the monitor back into the wall (do not connect the video leads)

Turn it on and see if it goes past the ACER logo now. If so, replace the video cables and try the computer.
If not, then one of these will apply and a tech will be required..

  1. The internal bios has been corrupted.
  2. The power supply inside the monitor may have issues preventing the video board from starting correctly. This could be as simple as a few failing capacitors.
Number 2 is the most likely cause with an Acer monitor though. Any local tech will be able to correct it fairly cheaply, but phone around for quotes..they can vary a lot.

Acer laptop display goes off after some second

Try booting into safe mode. Chances are that you have set the screen resolution and refresh rate to some value that the LCD cannot handle. That is why it works until Windows takes over. Once you are in Safe Mode you can get things under control.

Monitor comes displays Acer logo and goes black after 3 seconds, with indicator light still green.

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Acer Aspire 5050 screen is blank

Hi, if it works with an external monitor it's more likely an LCD problem. When you push the power button, noting comes up on the main LCD screen? not even the Acer logo etc.?
Did you set your video card to use an external monitor and disabled the primary LCD? If so, you need to go to display settings, advanced and go to ATI Display and make sure that the notebook monitor is on.

No monitor display

Return the monitor. I had one like that and I replaced it with a Dell.

No Signal

Not all monitors can display the same resolutions. You may have has the Dell monitor set at something the Acer can not handle. Try rebooting and if you can see the Dell startup screen press F8 as soon as it disappears. This will give you the Windows Startup Options menu, which is text and should display on any monitor. Then select VGA MODE, which is the lowest common denominator for graphics. You should be able to see the Windows display at a much lower resolution (ie, larger fonts and icons) than usual until you can reset your graphics properties to work with the new monitor.

Acer LCD Monitor - Stuck Displaying green

Cant say for sure. The display seems to be working, and the computer signal seems to be the problem. It could be a faulty cable. Check the pins on the cable monitor and see if they are bent, etc.
If the connectors are Ok, it could be the converter or the main board that has the fault. This could be caused by a power surge, or just a mechanical failure.
There is no easy diagnosis for this\ one, without actually checking the parts. I would recommend taking it to a repair place.

Monitor repeatedly flashes Acer logo and computer display in cycles

We had the same problem with the 17" we bought in Aug. Sent it back for repair. Acer sent it back without fixing the problem. Started doing it again in Nov. This time I called a supervisor and they sent me a new monitor. Well yesterday it started doing the same thing. You can fix it temp buy unplugging it and holding down the on-off switch for 30 seconds. Please let me know if you have a better fix.

Problem with the acer al1916w

Sounds like the backlight or inverter might need replaced. It's pretty common on LCD monitors. It's best to call a local repair shop to do that unless you know what you're doing.
