I bought a replacement AC/DC adapter for my Portable DVD Player, but the tip I chose, while having the right inner and outer diameters (Inner:1/7 mm\ 1/16")(Outer: 4.0 mm\ 5/32"), wasn't long enough (the one I bought was an 8 mm long metal shaft, the one I was replacing had a 10 mm long metal shaft]. Is there any place where I can buy a longer DC plug? I need positive polarity.

Try taking the washer to a local hardware store, They should be able to find a replacement. (Normally the smaller stores have a better selection of the single washers than the big box stores) Also there's a company called MSC that has just about every washer imaginable, however you'll pay more for shipping than what its worth.

Take it to Radio Shack...they have a full line of replacement AC adapters. You may find one that matches or a multi-selectable model. You may have to order.

You need to input the correct voltage, amperage, the correct polarity, the correct outer diameter of the plug, the correct inner diameter of the plug. Don't worry about the input voltage, 117, 120, and 125 are all the same.

I've been searching for a replacement as well. I found the specs on the original cord at the following site.

12V, 2A, positive inner post, 2.5 inner diameter (ID) and 5.5 outer diameter (OD).

I don't think I would buy the exact replacement ADP brand fom the site above. Many have complained about it failing at the 2-yr point. I am considering the following replacement from the same website.
